To report my husband to the HSE?

My husband has a business in a busy high street, the upstairs area of the shop is for storage etc. There are three glass windows that look over the high street & one has a big crack in it, I swear from looking at it today it’s getting worse. We have had countless arguments about it but he doesn’t simply doesn’t care & doesn’t make any effort to get it fixed. I have told him he is completely irresponsible and that if it comes out completely it would kill someone walking below and likely go to prison, he has made various excuses why he hasn’t done it but I’m just so so angry with him! We have just had another big falling out about it. I want to report this for the health and safety executive or would there be someone else better such as the local council? I don’t work in the business & have nothing to do with it day to day. Have I just completely lost the plot and being unreasonable?

Yeah, he should have it fixed, but the total overreaction isn't going to help him see that.

If you believe a building to be dangerous you can (and should) get in touch with your local council, especially as it is a danger to the public. Ask yourself if you could live with the result if someone did get hurt, perhaps even your husband or yourself?

I mean it will give him the shove up the arse that he needs so yeah, it's not a bad idea.

Does he own it or rent it? Report to landlord too.

tape it up with Gaffa tape and support it with cardboard until it’s professionally fixed?

If the glass falls out the HSE will prosecute on the basis of what could have happened. So if it is deemed it could have killed someone that is he will be prosecuted for, mega bucks and possible custodial sentence.

He rents it, I don’t know who the landlord is, someone very rich in Dubai!
