Any dentists around?

Sorry, posting in AIBU for traffic.

DS5.5 said he had a sore tooth and mentioned the tooth fairy so we assumed he was losing his first tooth

He got very upset at dinner and said his tooth hurt so much he couldn’t eat which obviously didn’t sound right so we had a look.

It turns out he’s got his 6 year molars peeping through each side, but on one (the one that hurts) is a red dot.

Photo attached. We’re going to try and see a dentist Monday but I wondered if I need to get an out of hours appt tomorrow? He’s had nurofen and seems fine now, says it only hurts when he eats

Would appreciate any advice!

He’s teething. No need for OOH, nothing they can do anyway beyond pain relief.
The red bit will go when the tooth comes through fully- may have been an eruption cyst.

Thank you so much @HalfasleepChrisintheMorning. I’m reassured it’s not some awful infection! I’ll keep an eye on it and if it doesn’t go as the tooth emerges, we’ll get him to a dentist.

Could be a herniated dental follicle coinciding with an erupting molar.
