To ask if you agree with ‘the flag flyers’

Plus if you’re also educated and at least middle income?

The only people I know personally that agree with Farage et al are from working class backgrounds and/or are generally not educated higher than GCSE level.

Granted this is quite a small snapshot but this includes friends of friends, acquaintances etc so wondering if my perception of the ‘typical Farage voter’ is correct or skewed.

There is one of those protests here this afternoon i wont be attending but i will have to walk through it to get to the taxi rank after ive picked up some shopping for my elderly mother. When these protests are in town centres we sometimes have no choice but to be in the same place

I changed plans to avoid

I cant. The protest is right next to the taxi rank No other way to get to it.

cygnusgenie · 20/09/2025 15:30

Absolutely hate them. Higher degrees

Lemonandorangecheescake · 20/09/2025 17:30

sleepwouldbenice · 20/09/2025 14:41

Well if you agree with them then you deserve the labels of far right and racist

Plenty of people on that march wouldn't be those things, but close alignment of views with those vile people is a clear red flag

I don't 'deserve' to be called any labels, but if you feel better calling people racists when you know nothing about them then that just shows your ignorance.

Feel free to carry on with your labels though, your opinion means zilch to me.

Did you go to the protest? How do you describe yourself? Why not racist - why are you so offended by that label?

No I didn't go, but I would've done if I could. I'm not racist, I've friends from all different backgrounds.
The one thing I want is to stop the illegal immigrants on boats coming here, because we can't afford to accommodate them and we don't know their identities, their background history, or where they're from.

That doesn't make me a racist for wanting our Government to look after our own pensioners or homeless people first. And it doesn't make me a racist for not wanting unknown people living amongst us.

Why don't you describe yourself?

I could describe myself with lots of labels that people would happily throw at me on here. I don't get excited about it, though. I do what I do - the labels don't change that.

What do you want the gov to do to stop the people arriving here on the boats?

You're not willing to answer me, yet keep throwing questions at me,

There aren't many people who dont want to stop the.boats, its a dangerous and ridiculous way of getting to the UK
But, without goggling, what % of immigration last year was illegal / small boats.
Do you really think that solving this issue tomorrow would solve so much of our problems?
You really have been duped

MsGiGi · 20/09/2025 18:31

I’m working class, but degree educated (Law). I don’t agree with the flag flyers at all. It’s not the flags that are the issue, but the message they’re trying to convey (xenophobia and racism)

@Lemonandorangecheescake Could you derail a different thread I’m recognising you’re username quite a bit on various threads 😬 always the same rhetoric, “I’m not a racist but…”

If our priority is keeping women and girls safe, I would suggest a long hard look at the people Tommy Robinson pals around with. The threat is coming from inside the house.

It's a free country isn't it? Oh, hang on a minute.
I'm sorry, I forgot this thread was about you trying to claim that flag flyers are thick and uneducated. What a terribly judgemental topic to do a thread about.

Posters like yourself who assume everything about others are the ones who sound uneducated to me, and not very bright.

MrsB2603 · 20/09/2025 21:13

”middle income” I have a degree and I completely disagree with the flag flyers, I won’t get into it all but that answers your question from me😂

Understood
But impact on nhs? views on education? Climate change? Benefits? And probably worst of all foreign policy? It terrifies me...

Read all of the manifestos of each party, Reform have included their proposed approaches to all of those things.

As with all political parties of course they won't achieve all they set out to do, but their intents are there and the councils they have taken control off they have already made savings.

Having worked with clients from local authorities, inefficiency is certainly an issue I can identify with

Manifestos are not worth the paper that they are written on.

It has been taken to court and it was ruled that political parties didn't have to stick to their manifestos, so they are worthless.

Baital · 20/09/2025 23:45

I love the flags flying when there is something to unite over - a sporting event, a jubilee etc

I hate them when they are used to divide, as currently to say immigrants are not welcome.

Degree educated.

Dont necessarily disagree re inefficiency. But more than equally, dont believe you can solve it all

DdraigGoch · 21/09/2025 01:20

I'm a university drop-out in a blue collar, unionised job. I think that these small pieces of polyester cable-tied half-way up lamp posts is cheap and tacky. Flying flags properly is fine, town halls should be flying Union, national and local flags.

Which is true of any political party, we are seeing it here with the promises not to raise taxes, but you have to make a decision on which way to vote based on something. Therefore for me, reading all of the manifestos is the best start. Out of curiosity what do you base your decisions on?

What the MPs actually voted on
How they voted
Did they follow the party whip
How many days they attended parliament
What they do in their constituency
How present they are in their constituency

What they post on their social media accounts.

There are others but I find myself voting for the person and not the Party.
