Rainbow Flags?

Those who don't want the English flag up, and try and take them down, would they feel the same if people were putting Rainbow Flags up..

OP posts:
Violetparis · 19/09/2025 16:54

Yes

Faceonthewrongfoot · 19/09/2025 16:54

Yes. Because that also has motivations that I don't agree with generally.

GlassofRosePorfavor · 19/09/2025 16:55

Yes I would I didn't even buy my dog a new dog food flavour because it had a rainbow flag on 🤣

PestoHoliday · 19/09/2025 16:57

That "progress" flag? Yes, I would feel the same, eye roll and a mutter about idiots.

Bideo · 19/09/2025 16:57

I feel a very similar way about the rainbow flags tbh. I agree wholeheartedly with the spirit of inclusion they were originally intended to convey, but that's not how they're being used now.

Needmorelego · 19/09/2025 16:59

Personally the issue I see with any of these flags is people putting them on unofficial places that could be dangerous.
Like tying them to motorway bridges - where they could fall off and cause crashes.
To be honest - Union Flag, George Cross, Rainbow flag, whatever flag..... I just don't care. Just display them on official flagpoles for safety please.

Bumbelinaaa · 19/09/2025 17:01

No, because I don’t feel that the motivation behind a rainbow flag is possibly far right related. I don’t think anyone has a basis to feel genuinely threatened by a rainbow flag, whereas there can be a sinister undertone aimed at minorities when it comes to the St George’s Cross and Union Jack flags. If those who fly this flag feel that this interpretation is wrong then more effort needs to be made to change this image, and I find those most of those who protest that the perception of it is unfair also coincidentally are very xenophobic.

Pollqueen · 19/09/2025 17:01

Yep and then some

user7638490 · 19/09/2025 17:03

of course not. Rainbow flags are put up to show support. These flags are being put up to intimidate. It’s not about the flags but about the message intended.

LaughingAloudAsWeGoInsane · 19/09/2025 17:08

I don’t want any flags painted on the roads or tied to motorway bridges etc. I’m not gay but the 2 gay friends I have both don’t want to be associated with the rainbow flag now due to the trans movement and say many of their gay friends feel the same.

This

and obviously if people want to paint their house or hang the flags out of their windows etc

hiintrepidheroes · 19/09/2025 17:25

No.

UK and England flags make me stay away from an area as I know I’d feel threatened and uncomfortable. They are put up by people wanting to exclude a section of society.

Rainbow flags are the opposite, they promote welcoming and inclusivity.

lavioletta · 19/09/2025 17:30

I’ve changed my mind over rainbow that’s in the last few years, they are no longer just a rainbow anymore - I feel the meaning behind them has changed and I no longer find them welcoming or inclusive tbh. They are also used so often by virtue signaling big business that I feel they’ve lost their original meaning a bit too.

No, they don't.

mugglewump · 19/09/2025 19:12

Of course I would object to people putting up random flags in public spaces because they are not allowed to do it. They can do what they want on their own property but in public spaces it is akin to vandalism and graffiti (tho' I do quite like graffiti)

blankcanvas3 · 19/09/2025 19:13

No because the motivation is very different, as you well know

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 19/09/2025 19:26

Yeah, they piss me off too

Imaginariums · 19/09/2025 19:28

Most people wouldn’t dare question a rainbow flag for fear of being branded homophobic.

LavenderBlue19 · 19/09/2025 19:28

No, because rainbow flags are not being used to intimidate people.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 19/09/2025 19:30

No.

The intent is very different. While people might now see the rainbow flag as unwelcoming for whatever reason, it is not put up for the purpose of excluding or intimidating. Operation "Raise The Colours" or whatever it's called was created with the intention of intimidating and excluding anyone who is not white and British, and anyone who does the little faux naive head tilt and "how could England flags possibly be racist?" needs to grow up and open their eyes.

I'd feel threatened by the rainbow flag.
As a female to me it is sinister and means 'you must bow to, and accept males in female spaces, if you do not you will be harassed and hounded out of your employment. You will have threats of violence including decapitation if you do not accept you as a female are worthless'.

Auroraloves · 19/09/2025 19:32

I wonder how many of you visit Scotland Wales Ireland ( or any country for that matter) and automatically think racism when you see their national flag on display 🙄

Or could it just be that people want to show their support for the LGBT community? It doesn’t have to be a personal attack on your thoughts and feelings towards trans women

HelloKittyFan · 19/09/2025 19:33

Yes I don’t buy anything that has a rainbow flag on even avoided the bags in Poundland / ikea with them on.

Flakey99 · 19/09/2025 19:34

Yes, because the rainbow flags have also been taken over by a hate group. One that wants to erase women.
