Those who don't want the English flag up, and try and take them down, would they feel the same if people were putting Rainbow Flags up..

Yes I would I didn't even buy my dog a new dog food flavour because it had a rainbow flag on 🤣

What??! Madness.

Rosesanddaffs · 19/09/2025 19:36

I actually feel quite intimated by all the flags around us, my 4 year old asked me why they are there and why we don’t have one.

I actually didn’t know what to say so just said it’s for decoration.

Or could it just be that people want to show their support for the LGBT community? It doesn’t have to be a personal attack on your thoughts and feelings towards trans women

But you believe that the Union or St George's flag can only have 'sinister' connotations?
Ah the 'tolerant, inclusive' at their best....
we are good and pure.... those who don't have our exact mindset? Off to the Gulag
Watch out for when the purity spiral comes for you!

I don’t want any flags painted on the roads or tied to motorway bridges etc. I’m not gay but the 2 gay friends I have both don’t want to be associated with the rainbow flag now due to the trans movement and say many of their gay friends feel the same.

My gay son and friends don’t fell like this.

The minute an England flag enters my street I’ll be putting up a rainbow, Europe, Ukraine and Palestine flag in response.

SunnieShine · 19/09/2025 17:35

No, they don't.

I’m in a same sex marriage & they do for me. You interpret it how you like, but the majority agree with what the pp said reference the rainbow flag.

I had no problem with flags being flown until they started appearing everywhere for the sole reason of making immigrants uncomfortable. My next door neighbour has always flown a Union Jack on their flag pole - took it down the other day because he was worried about negative connotations.

CobbleWobble · 19/09/2025 19:46

Not this month as it bisexual month. And not during pride month either.

But yeah the rest of the time. I just don't think flying flags is very British to be honest. And they look a total state if they aren't maintained.

pikkumyy77 · 19/09/2025 19:48

Rainbow flags are put up to show inclusion while the current fad for the St George Flag is to represent exclusion and xenophobia. People should put up the flags that represent their political goals. So those who support exclusion, homophobia, and reactionary politics will of course object to the rainbow flag. And those who object to the racism, xenophobia, and calls to attack visible ethnic minorities will opppse the current fashion of putting up the St George’s flag in public areas as it attempts to mark those areas not as “safe” for so called patriots but as off limits to those the white/english/racist political group wishes to exclude.

Dappy777 · 19/09/2025 20:08

Bumbelinaaa · 19/09/2025 17:01

No, because I don’t feel that the motivation behind a rainbow flag is possibly far right related. I don’t think anyone has a basis to feel genuinely threatened by a rainbow flag, whereas there can be a sinister undertone aimed at minorities when it comes to the St George’s Cross and Union Jack flags. If those who fly this flag feel that this interpretation is wrong then more effort needs to be made to change this image, and I find those most of those who protest that the perception of it is unfair also coincidentally are very xenophobic.

People aren’t flying their national flags because they want to hurt their neighbours. It isn’t aggressive, it’s defensive. I have a lovely Indian neighbour. The last thing I want to do is intimidate or upset her. People are flying their flags because they feel they are losing their identity, not because they want to bully anyone. And they are losing their identity! It isn’t paranoia. You cannot have mass immigration and retain your national identity. You just can’t. You lose any sense of connection with the past. I no longer feel like I live in a nation with a shared history and a shared culture. The left know that, and it pleases them, because beneath the veneer of smug moral superiority they are the nastiest, most spiteful, bitter, hate-filled and destructive people on earth. They have used mass immigration as a tool to destroy people’s identity and impose a new one on them. Christ, they go around accusing others of fascism. They’re the fascists.

What identity are the left imposing on us?

finallygettingit · 19/09/2025 20:13

I'm not losing my identity what are you on about?
the people putting up these flags/painting roundabouts know very well what they are doing
in my town they have painted the roundabout right outside a private muslim girls school- now why would they do that?

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/09/2025 20:15

Fly whatever flag you like... on your own property.

If it's not yours, don't put a flag on it.

I feel like these are the basic rules about flags anyway, and shoving flags on things that are not yours has long had a rather unpleasant association...

I also think flags go on flag poles so if you have not got a flag pole or cannot attach a flag pole, it shouldn't have a fucking flag on it.

@pikkumyy77 so you agree a female lesbian should be forced to have penetrative sex with a penis owning lesbian? That if she doesn't want to she should be set on fire to die? Because if you don't, you're not 'Rainbow Inclusive'....

secureyourbook · 19/09/2025 20:28

Yes, rainbow flags are just as bad

hiintrepidheroes · 19/09/2025 20:58

The idea behind rainbow flags is to show understanding, respect, welcoming and inclusivity.

The England flags are being used by the far right.

If you feel rainbow flags are aimed at exclusion then you’ve interpreted it incorrectly. A lot of people feel safer because of them.

LittleChopper · 19/09/2025 22:33

If you want to fly whatever flag you like on your own property eg. Your bedroom window or the flagpole in your garden, or if it’s in an officially recognised place like a government building or Pall Mall - you do you.

I do take huge issue with people putting flags on public roundabouts, lamp posts, bridges. These are public places and while you should be able to voice your own opinion, putting them up publicly is choosing to speak for others, as well as the implication of some potential safety risks too.

this is especially inflammatory at the moment with the flag wankers movement who want to “take our country back”, with the St George being adopted as a symbol of this. So yeah I take issue with any flag being hung from public property to convey hate.

I started a previous thread, having taken some down and it was interesting to see how many people were being disingenuous about who the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 flag is currently being adopted by.

The rainbow flag is trickier because although it doesn’t feel as threatening to me (it’s not like people are currently hanging them as a sign of hatred of a certain group) but ultimately I still don’t think it’s anyone’s right to hang this in a public space illegally.

You must know how over the top this sounds? I have yet to encounter a single gay/straight/trans etc person in my real life who has expressed this view. Just because a small but very vocal group of strange individuals have claimed this, doesn’t make it the opinion of 99.9% of rainbow flag displayers and I don’t believe you really feel threatened. However I have encountered in real life and have seen many Facebook posts from people who whinge about wanting to put up St George’s cross flags and the majority of them do have very negative views of ethnic minorities. In addition to this we had last weeks marches which all add to the negative and aggressive feeling these flags carry

TallulahLikesHoola · 19/09/2025 22:55

I've not experienced the hatred
usage of St George's flags personally, so that also means it's not true?

Do pride marches have an overwhelming tone of aggression towards people who do not want to have sex with trans women? Are the majority of chants demanding that a “female lesbian should be forced to have penetrative sex with a penis owning lesbian?”.

How many of rainbow flag displayers have you encountered have expressed this view to you?

And do you think there was an overwhelming display of aggressive racism and xenophobia on display during the Tommy Robinson marches last week?

LactoseTolerant · 19/09/2025 23:49

TallulahLikesHoola · 19/09/2025 23:13

No I'm not alright Jack because people are putting up st George's flags to intimidate me and my family and make us feel unwelcome. They are putting up flags to encourage others to hate us and make us feel unwelcome.

And you will find this funny but i saw a flag flying today in our university campus which had the university logo on it and that one didn't bother me either.

The rainbow flags stand for tolerance and inclusiveness. Why on earth would anyone have a problem with that? They symbolise the exact opposite of what the st George's flag stands for today.

I wonder how many of you visit Scotland Wales Ireland ( or any country for that matter) and automatically think racism when you see their national flag on display 🙄

Unfortunately our own growing far right movement in Ireland has been inspired by England and we have thousands of Irish flags being used in the same hateful, divisive way.

Particularly annoying because the Irish flag is a symbol of unity.

Naanspiration · 20/09/2025 00:10

Skull and cross bones flag only please ☠️
