To be so happy to be leaving the NHS

I've just found out that my MARS application has been accepted! I've worked in an admin manager role for 23 years and I've seen so many changes over that time and since Covid especially the Service I work in has changed beyond all recognition. I never thought when I began working in Children's mental health that I'd actively be telling families to go Right to Choose for a Neurodevelopmental assessment as we simply don't have the capacity to see them. I was looking for a new job on the quiet since May but stopped when MARS was brought out - and now they are paying me to leave! I'm so relieved and so happy 😀

NHS = Best years of my life + the worst years of my life.

I'd never go back now.

I don't blame you at all but considering the financial position of most organisations whilst struggling to get things done because of lack of staffing, it is madness that the way forward is to offer up to 2 years full pay for staff like you. Especially when in all likelihood, the same staff will be re-employed in the future anyway when they acknowledge they can't do without the staff and they are the only ones with the necessary experience. En joy though!

Why are NHS employees so keen to tell us they work for the NHS? People love or hate their jobs in all walks of life. People cannot wait to leave or retire from all types of jobs. I can't ever remember these types of threads about hairdressers or accountants or admin or whatever. It's weird.

I'm in a similar position - not far off 20 years NHS service and had enough, I'm doing online study to retrain and will look for a role in a different environment. My role was being reduced in numbers and I was so relieved to have VR accepted. Currently working notice period.
