Does anyone shop at Reading West Tesco on Portman Rd

I have received a parking penalty for exceeding the maximum amount of time. I parked for 45 mins on a Sunday evening after the store was closed from 10:30 to 11:15pm, I checked the sign and I was sure it said you could park for an hour for free at that time, but it seems I was wrong. Just wondered if anyone can confirm what the parking conditions are if they shop at the store. I have googled and asked Chat GPT and tried to phone the store but can't find anything.

If this is the parking sign which I think it is then max stay at that time is 15 mins? Unless different Tesco! Do you have a photo of the sign?

If it's the big Tesco Extra, this is the best I could find on google streetview, taken in Nov 22, so it may have changed since. That only gives the three hours during the main opening times. It doesn't mention restrictions outside that period.

Our local Tesco has now changed and signs show the same as @GenerateNewUsername has put up.

It's done here to stop anti social behaviour and people car sharing on nights out.

Thanks I also got a picture of that sign. I think the issue may be that the store was closed....and the sign says the car park is for customers of Tesco only. I thought I was ok as was under the 1.5 hours but obviously the store wasn't open so I wasn't a customer, the petrol station was open....

Ah damn it I realise I mis-read the sign it says 15 minutes on Sunday from 6pm to midnight. What an idiot. These things are always so confusing when there are multiple rules. Ah well looks like I need to pay it. Thanks for finding the sign.

Why is car sharing bad? Anti social behaviour: fair enough that they want to stop that.

Car sharing isn't bad, but when people park their cars in Tesco car park then 4 or 5 people get into one car and go off elsewhere or walking to the train station without so much as entering/using the store it's not really what Tesco car park is meant for.

I've nothing against car sharing, done respectfully and neither has Tesco, probably, but when you get x amount of people all doing the same and parking there all day/evening it limits the parking for customers.

Oh, fair enough. I was thinking car sharing later when it's not taking up space for paying customers.
