Well another idea for DS party has just been taken! A mum posted in class WhatsApp for the idea I was thinking so I need a new one. So my question is whether bowling party is good idea for a 7 year old? Some will be still 6 years old. I had one for DD’s 8th birthday but she was the youngest and most were 9. What do you think? Small class so only 15 kids will be there probably

My eldest went to bowling parties at 5 and 6 and they all really enjoyed! I think it's a good age to do that

Why cant you do the same party as the other person?

No idea abour the bowls.

Other options; pizza party (if anywhere near.you does it),magician, soft play, laser quest, cinema

The bowling balls are too heavy for them at that age, I think, unless they have special junior ones?

InOverMyHead84 · 14/09/2025 22:55

My DD5 went to one. Used the little chutes they have for the balls and enjoyed the arcade along with it.

Was fine.

We had one for my daughter's 6th and some of her friends were not much past five. We also had a just turned four year old present. A great time was had by all!

Yes, I think so. They’ll struggle to achieve a decent ball-roll plus too much waiting around for their turn.

Stichintime · 14/09/2025 22:56

Get ready for them to throw, rather than roll the balls. I'd wait until they're at least 8. Do something else. It doesnt have yo be orginal, just fun and accessible to everyone.

Bowling is great fun. Just get the bumpers up. There in the chutes for those that need too

tilypu · 14/09/2025 22:57

Has your child ever been bowling?

If they enjoy it then sure, why not.

Iwantsandybeachesandgoodfood · 14/09/2025 22:58

I think it’s fine. My kids have enjoyed bowling parties at that age. They have light balls and the side barriers up as well as that thing where they can push/roll the ball.

I think it’s ok if you have a decent number of lanes for your group. My very recently turned 6 year old went bowling in the summer with 3 others on a lane and enjoyed it. He didn’t use the ramp but did have bumpers. If there had been 6 of them, he’d have got impatient. However, he doesn’t have much power in his throw so his balls were really slow. He should have used the ramp really.

Here, bowling really kicked in for parties in Y3 but I don’t think 6 is too bad.

Why do you think you have to be different? All kids parties are much of a muchness really and kids don’t mind repetition. If your original idea was good, just go with that!

My DS loves bowling. He’s been going since he was 4.

My kids have gone 5 pin bowling for fun since they were 6 ish using the bumpers, no gutter balls.

It's a great idea for your 7 yr old.
