To think my Mirena coil wasn't placed properly during my c-section?

I'll try to describe this as accurately as possible but bear with me.

Almost a year ago I had a c-section and opted to have a Mirena coil fitted during it. This wasn't my first one but previously they had been inserted with the normal method not during any procedures etc.

The strings had been looked at by the GP about 6 weeks ago after I went with some abnormal bleeding and other symptoms, and she confirmed there was the usual length coming from the cervix. I had checked them myself every couple of months just to make sure and it just felt like the same about maybe an inch of string and I could definitely feel the ends of them and where they came out etc.

Recently, I pulled out a tampon and with it came my coil! And about 30cm of string as if they had never been cut yet there was only a small amount coming out my cervix before this?

The question I have, which is probably more for people with medical experience in this field, is emm wtf? Where was the rest of this string because it absolutely was not in my vaginal canal. And how did they even manage this??

Well if it was in wrong it out now and hopefully painlessly. I’ve not heard of them being fitted during a c section??? I’d go to the go to tell them and make a new plan.

I’m surprised you needed a tampon after having a coil fitted for a year. Periods usually completely stop. Also, the strings are only about 10 CMS long to start with.

As I said, I was having random bleeding which was often quite heavy. They're definitely more than 10cm. In fact I just measured because yep I kept it and they're 29cm

Funnily enough the random bleeding has pretty much stopped now too. The GP surgery doesn't fit them where I live. It has to be booked online but there's never any appointments available and I check multiple times a day. There is a number but I keep forgetting to call. Just been wondering where all this coil string has been hiding this entire time. I assume in my uterus but I don't think that's normal for it to be left like that.

Maybe the surgeon had to place it high up to avoid the wound?
