Breathing pads

Can you use a breathing pad on a next to me crib? I have twins, would two pads work in a normal cot if they slept together?

I used a movement pad (same thing I think?) and it detected movement from all over the cot mattress. So not really usable with two babies on one mattress. I know fine people use monitoring socks?
