Size v Weight

I am 168cm tall and 58. I have recently lost 15kg through diet and exercise and am now a size 12. All the BMI calculators, including the NHS one, tell me I have to lose another 10-11kg to get out of the overweight zone. I am not particularly muscular but I would say I am big boned and my boobs have not shrunk with the weight loss at all!

My DH tells me I am just fine and I should "ignore the fuckers".

But if you are a similar height and a 10 or 12, can I ask how much you weigh please?

I’m 170cm tall. I’m 49. I weight 61.5kg and am a size 10.

SpiralSister · 14/09/2025 15:25

Well, build is a thing. I am your height, also a 12, weigh 70 kg. Need to lose another 2.5kg to be a healthy BMI.

What do you actually weigh now?

BMI is not great, we know that. It’s just an indicator. Have you done the waist to height ratio thing? That would give a better indicator of health and likely visceral fat. Notably, I hit a healthy ratio way before my weight was anywhere the ‘acceptable’ BMI, because of my shape and how I carry my weight.

wonderingwhatsnext · 14/09/2025 15:30

Interesting. I'm 170cm, 65kg and a size 14 top, 12 bottom. I just have a big frame.

Grapewrath · 14/09/2025 15:31

5ft 4 (162 cm) 55/56 kg depending on hormones and hydration. Size 10. Small frame

grooveraidiator · 14/09/2025 15:43

15kg is an amazing loss. congrats!

honestly, in my case wouldn't go by size. i'd go by waist to height ratio and BMI.

i'm 11st 3 lbs and i wear a size 12 comfortably but i'm at the top end of the healthy range and almost overweight. i look bulky because my ribs almost join my hips and i look like a bag of sand!! i suit being 9st 7lbs to 10 st - im working on it.

if you feel good - then stay as you are!!

medically you are overweight - decide if it matters to you in terms of blood pressure, cholesterol, pre-diabetes risks.

Buscake · 14/09/2025 15:47

I’m 167cm and 69.5kg so just about hitting healthy bmi. It’s been a slog to get to this point and I plan to knock a few more kg off. Once I moved from obese to overweight I thought that was as good as I could do - genuinely never thought I could make it to healthy and that I was ‘big boned’. I have always had big boobs and hips, but it has shocked me to see my frame really change with the last 10kg or so I have lost. Well done on your weight loss so far, that is a huge achievement

SchnizelVonKrumm · 14/09/2025 15:49

I'm 170cm and a size 12. Hourglass figure, 32G boobs. I weigh just over 10st.

Fakesantancnotreal · 14/09/2025 15:53

I’m the same height as you, weigh 67.5kg and wear a size 12 comfortably. At around 62kg I wear size 10.

I’m just inside the threshold for healthy bmi, I’m generally muscular build but I do have a layer of softness I could shed to achieve mid-healthy bmi. Probably 7kg or so.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 14/09/2025 15:53

I’m 169cm tall and 60.3kg and I think I’m still a 12. They are a bit loose but I prefer that. I started out 22kg heavier and a large size 18!

I’m slap bang in the middle of the healthy bmi range but I would look awful if I lost more weight, I’m over 50 so it goes from my face. Focusing on getting stronger and more toned now.

Wellifyouresurebetterbegryffindor · 14/09/2025 15:57

Im 165cm and 68kg. I am a size 16. I have a bmi of just over 25. I carry all my weight on my middle like an apple shape and this definitely affects how clothes fit me.

Turtleturtling · 14/09/2025 15:59

I’m 175cm, size 12 and 80kg my BMI still says I have weight to loose but I’ve very hour glass with boobs / bum so I’m not sure I would look better

MiceAsPie · 14/09/2025 16:17

I’m smaller at 5 foot 3 and I weigh 9 stone 9. I’m a size 8-10

LondonLasss · 14/09/2025 16:35

I think you should aim for a healthy BMI as it’s best for longevity.

AugustMounjaroTeam · 14/09/2025 16:44

I’m 173cm and 82kg, 57 years old. Top level of BMI would apparently be 75kg.

I am large framed - hands bigger than most men, head too big for women’s hats - such a catch - I’m a fairly normal looking woman at size 10-12, honest.🤣

Health results all fine, including visceral fat. Quite happy where I’m at.

Everyonesawher · 14/09/2025 16:58

I think when you have lost significant weight - huge congratulations - then BMI is inaccurate as your weight gain wouldn’t have been all adipose tissue but bone, muscle, tendons etc - and if you have lost slowly and just fat you will still have the bigger bones etc which grew to support a bigger body. I don’t think they would make you metabolically unhealthy. Similarly with lose skin from housing a larger body - it’s not likely to disappear and don’t believe it’s unhealthy.

I don’t know what both of these would come to in weight (that IMHO should be disregarded from BMI calcs) - someone on her had tummy tuck after weight loss - this weighted 4kg.

I am still BMI 26 after 15kg loss - but at 58 not prepared to lose anymore as my face has held up to date - and I don’t want it looking like my now deflated creased butt cheeks…..just to get into a size 8 currently size 10 @ 160cm and 65kg.

moppety · 14/09/2025 17:00

I am 163cm and 58kg. I’m a 6/8 on top and 8/10 on bottom.

I forgot about my large skull - will subtract that from my calc - how did you measure your visceral fat?

toadstool32 · 14/09/2025 17:04

5’5, 9stone size 10

Newyeargymwanker · 14/09/2025 17:05

I am 177cm tall and weight 75kg. I am a size 8 - 10.

having just had a dexa scan I can honestly say I have dense bones 🤣

SummerInSun · 14/09/2025 17:07

I’m 170cm, also a muscular build and currently 72kg and a size 12. Last year I gained 2kg which put me just over healthy BMI, and a tummy appeared which I’ve never had before (totally on track for my late 40s with weight gain going to tummy not hips for the first time ever) and my size 12 bottoms started to feel tight. Managed to shift those 2kg to get back into healthy BMI JUST and those two kg make a massive difference to my appearance. I have broad shoulders, etc, but only a B cup bra size. For me, tipping over the healthy BMI is exactly the point I start to move out of size 12 (which is what I think of as the largest “normal” size).

You’ve done amazingly to lose so much. Remember the old saying that losing weight is like unravelling kitchen roll - taking two sheets off a really full roll doesn’t show, but once you are down to a thin role, every sheet you take off is more and more noticeable.

Mummyslittlegiraffe · 14/09/2025 17:13

168cm, 55kg, size 8-10. BMI is on the low side. I am pretty muscular (apart from glutes that I can not build whatever I try) and do a lot of exercise.

ChrisMartinsKisskam · 14/09/2025 17:30

I’m 168 so 5 ft6
I weigh 55 kilos which is around 8.10 but I can go up to 9tone if on holiday
It’s perfect weight for no fat very flat stomach , tiny waist although I do have boob implants so I look busty and in proportion

At 68 /10.5 I didn’t look overweight but that’s my actual shape as I don’t have a big belly
but I prefer my weight as it is now

ChampagneRose · 14/09/2025 17:34

I’m 167cm, 60kg and a size 12. All my weight is round my stomach. To wear a size 10, my weight needs to be around 56kg which I can just never get to.

Zempy · 14/09/2025 17:37

I’m 5 ft 4 and 60.

I am size 10/12 and weigh eight stone 13. I have a 32GG chest

DuckyLuck · 14/09/2025 17:37

I’m 170cm, weigh around 63kg and am a size 10/12. I’m 56 so look a bit gaunt and my boobs go up and down with my weight. Currently feel like a saggy sack but ok looking with clothes on!
