Very pleased to see this being taken seriously. Hope it won't be dragged out and mired in bureaucracy, but it definitely sounds hopeful.

I think it’s scandalous people were claiming a benefit and not even eligible for it. Sure a few didn’t notice - like the 50p over threshold lady- but the majority would have known they were earning over the weekly limit and continue to claim.

If you read the article properly you'll see it's not quite as black and white as you'd imagine.

Carers allowance is a mess. I’m on it and it makes me wary to work because of the ridiculous rules.
The threshold should be much higher, it’s not like people stop their caring responsibilities because they work a few hours a week.
