Racially aggravated rape and assault

Two days ago in Oldbury, West Midlands a British born Sikh woman in her 20s was raped and assaulted around 8.00am just off a busy road. The two suspects were white males who made a comment along the lines of she didn't belong in this country during the attack.
I am heartbroken for this girl, they targeted her based on her skin colour through hate and used sexual and physical violence against her to make their point.

This is in a diverse area that is quite familiar to me. I am absolutely petrified for my teenage kids and have sat them down this evening to discuss safety. They are in their mid to late teens and racism hasn't been something that has particularly effected them. I had it when younger but not much as an adult thankfully. I thought in 2025 we were better than this.

AIBU to think we should have an expectation of safety irrespective of skin colour?

Shocked to see the thread go this way. I thought a site where the majority of posters are women would acknowledge how despicable it is to use rape to try to drive non-white women from a place.

Honestly we’ll end up as bad as the US if we go on this way, with polarisation destroying our country.

A surprising number of people only have a problem with rape and sexual assault if it happens to them or their loved ones, they aren’t particularly bothered when it happens to someone else.

Perhaps you are like Tommy Robinson and his idiot followers who only care about rape and violence against women if the victims are white and the perpetrators aren’t. And as others have pointed out, that actually accounts for a very small proportion of rapes and other VAWG.

I guess what I didn’t express clearly enough is more that they publicly claim to care about VAWG when the perps are ethnic minorities to justify their hatred and racism.

I read this yesterday. Very upsetting. I feel for all non white people living in the UK at the moment. The levels of vitriol and violence being expressed have taken “race relations” in the UK back at least a couple of generations.

I hope this poor woman receives all the support she needs.

Males who will rape a woman will find a reason in their own heads why she was lower than him and therefore a suitable victim: in this case she's racially different, she could be a 'pov' care-leaver no-one cares much about, no better than she should be for wearing 'sexy' clothes, an uppity bitch who disrespected him ... they don't run out of reasons.

Yes. But i do wonder why it was acceptable for Pakistani gangs to target white female children to rape and the authorities were too scared to do anything in case the upset the Pakistani rapists.

It always makes me wonder why (if a race ‘disgusts’ you so much) you would choose to force that person to have sex with you. How does that bring you ‘pleasure’ if you’d never consider yourself striking a relationship with a person from that race, but you’d get aroused at the thought of raping them. Despicable people. I know it’s to ‘show dominance’, but you could do that by beating someone up (which would also be horrific) - I’m just perplexed about the sexual aspect of those attacks. Probably not articulating it very well.
