Has anybody got any feedback on this company?
I am looking for new windows, they have applied high pressure sales techniques which are awful. They've come down a lot on price to nearer what I told them was my budget.
Now they want me to accept it within 1/2 an hour or the quote is invalid.
I hate this kind of pressure.
They have also bad mouthed local, small companies.

I'm about ready to say no just based on the pressure.
Have you used them and are they any good?

I've learned from the experiences of others never to use them, but don't personally know of a single person with anything good to say

Just the high pressure sales should be enough to put you off since decent companies don't need to behave that way, but in general I'd never sign up to a major purchase on the spot or without geetting other estimates no matter what nonsense they spout about the deal "only being available today"

If you're going to say no don't give any reasons because they're trained to "overcome" every one of them; simply say you don't want to discuss this any further today and ask them to leave - repeat as necessary

riversflows · 11/09/2025 13:15

I probably will say no, and will do it by not calling them back in time and blocking their number.
Thank you so much for the reply. i have anxiety and i am stressing about this.

I had an absolutely appalling experience with them. It was about 18 years ago so I don't have knowledge of their current reputation but I would certainly never use them again.

anytipswelcome · 11/09/2025 13:16

Please say no and look elsewhere, it’s just not worth the stress of going with them OP. Don’t give them reasons just say it’s a no and ask them to take you off their list.

HappyMuma · 11/09/2025 13:16

I had the high pressure sales from another company and said no based on that! Try to find a local company, I guarantee they will be competitive on price and the customer service will be so much better!

Hereward1332 · 11/09/2025 13:17

A local company may well be a better option, but if you really want to go with Anglian, this is how tey work. Start with a hugely inflated price and subtract multiple discounts untiol they reach the real price. The real price will still be available if you reject it now and call back in a couple of days, although they will make it sound like you have a unique discount. Perfectly ok to tell them no matter what discounts, you are not deciding now.

Look for someone else but.a lot of window companies are like this, when we were looking for quotes I had a saleswoman in my house for 2.5 hours, Anglican are fine they put in my friends windows but the high pressure sales is too much, tell them you are thinking about it, ignore the threats l.

Ruggerlass · 11/09/2025 13:22

I’d avoid them like the plague. My friends elderly mother wanted new windows and the high pressure sales she got from them was shocking. Thankfully my friend was at the appointment and told them to get lost. The guy was there ages offering every deal under the sun to get a sale. In the end my friend just told him bluntly to get lost.
I’d use a local company who are Fensa registered.

overwork · 11/09/2025 13:24

They will come back with a lower quote in a few days. I don’t think even they know what their bottom line is. You’re lucky they would speak to you, they’d only speak to my husband (I own our house). We went with a local company, interestingly, they were cheaper and we much preferred their manner

DiscoBob · 11/09/2025 13:27

I've heard loads of horror stories of pressure selling. I think I might have worked one shift in their sales team once? They give you a phone book and everyone told me they'd been called hundreds of times and various different iterations of fuck off. That was fun. I had to pretend they'd won some bullshit competition and they were nominated to be a 'show home'?! We'd never seen their house.

You're better off with a recommended local one. Have any neighbours had their windows done recently?

chocolatemmmmm · 11/09/2025 13:32

I’ve had a near identical experience. The sales man said to my 1 year old ‘is mummy getting you a new door to keep you safe’, it made me feel very uncomfortable. They quoted my £3k for a new door and when I said my budget was £1500 he magically got the price down to that. I questioned what he would have managed to get the quote down to if I’d said my budget was £1000. He did not like that at all. This was years ago so I know that is now a very reasonable price for a front door.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 11/09/2025 13:32

Say no and find a company that are recommended locally

sparklystar333 · 11/09/2025 13:34

We had doors/windows from them back in 2004. They have been great quality and not one window pane has misted up. They did however ring me every month for years to sell me more. I actually emailed them and told them to delete my details. I did arrange a salesman to give me a price on a back door, he arrived with crayons and colouring books for my kids!! How long was he expecting to stay!! Anyway, after a few months of them lowering the price we did go ahead and order back door at a reasonable price. I believe they have since merged with Everest. I can't fault the quality but the sales pitch is awful.

WellThatsJustTypical · 11/09/2025 13:38

Seriously, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

They did a massive high-pressure sales pitch to us which lasted AGES. Literally hours (including lots of phone calls to "the office" where he allegedly got them to agree to progressively bigger "discounts" just in our special case, as long as we signed right then and there). This in spite of the fact that we'd been clear at the outset (and kept repeating) that we were going to get other estimates in and wouldn't be signing anything that day.

In the end I overcame my good manners and just told him to get out of our house. Wish I'd had the balls to do it sooner. He knew we hadn't had dinner yet and that my baby son was hungry. He didn't leave even then and I had to carry all his stuff outside and dump it in our front garden before he finally got out the door.

Then they kept on phoning us with even lower and lower prices. I ignored their calls. All that stuff about needing to sign on the day was total bollocks. They will just keep phoning you with lower prices if you don't sign. In the end the price they were offering was less than a quarter of their original quote. Can you imagine how grossly inflated their other quotes had been? At that point I told them that we had gone with another company which was much better and less unethical and dishonest. Otherwise Anglian would still be phoning me now and no doubt offering an even lower price. They are just pulling figures out of their arse and hoping that massive pressure selling will bludgeon you into signing something.

Dodgy as you like.

Fizbosshoes · 11/09/2025 13:41

We had them quote for windows probably 10 years ago. They did the hard sell. I got a quote from a local company. They quoted about 1/3 of the price, and put the 4 front windows in, in one day and left no mess at all
When Anglian called again I said id found somewhere local and cheaper, they insisted they would be poor quality and not as good. 10 years later, the windows are fine, no regrets for not using them

Mardyybum · 11/09/2025 13:42

We spent the best part of £20k with them on new windows for the whole house.
Their sales technique is insane but we were very lax about it all and didn’t fall for the time pressures. The discounts were still available several weeks later when we decided to go ahead.
We approached two local companies (we are in a small town) neither of which could meet their price. The Anglian fitters were local lads which was a pleasant coincidence.
The windows have been in almost 2 years now and we’ve not had any problems at all.

northernballer · 11/09/2025 13:45

I had this 20 years ago, clearly not changed.

We didn't use them and went with a small local company who we still use. Can't bear them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/09/2025 13:46

This is something I've never understood, @WellThatsJustTypical - why are people prepared to spend hours with them when the tactics are already so well reported?

Come to that, OP wrote as if they were actually there with her ("I'm just about to say ...") so how was she getting chance to post in between their blatherings?

ScreamingInfidelities · 11/09/2025 13:49

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!! They gave us an absolutely extortionate quote and pressured my husband to sign a contract of work to ‘lock in the special price’. When we said no the salesman HOUNDED my husband with multiple phone calls every day for about a week. He was very aggressive and managed to slash the price every time he called. The original quote was close to 20k and he got down to 11k. We went with a local company who did the job for 5.5k!

In the end, head office started calling my husband and he threatened legal action if they didn’t stop harassing him.

The best part is the salesman is the dad of a kid in the school I teach in. I’ll be body swerving him at parents’ night 🙈

Peteryourhorseisheree · 11/09/2025 13:53

I would never, ever use a double glazing company for windows and doors.

I buy the doors/windows myself online and get my builder to fit them.

For example, my friend has just had new french doors fitted. Something ridiculous, over 4k for the fitting and the door.

I’ve had the same doors put in. The doors cost me 625, inc vat and delivery, my builder charged me £400 to fit and that was including building out the walls each side as the new doors were 30cm narrower. He also rendered the outside and removed the old ones.

ETA - I just checked my messages, she paid 4.2k

corlan · 11/09/2025 13:54

I used them for a front door but would never do so again. The door itself is good but I vastly overpaid for it and it wasn't the colour I thought I'd ordered.

Eggbaps · 11/09/2025 13:54

Be aware that Everest is part of the same group as Anglian. Avoid them both. Never sign up with anyone who uses pressure like that.

TonTonMacoute · 11/09/2025 13:54

I've no idea what their windows are like, but they seemed way over specked, ridiculously expensive and their whole sales technique stank. How a company can possibly claim that all their online reviews are independent, and then offer you a big discount if you leave a good review, I don't know!

We went to a local company and got excellent service for a fraction of the cost Anglian quoted.

tattoolondon · 11/09/2025 13:55

Be careful as they operate under multiple trade names as they’ve swallowed up some other firms. I’m using wedodoors which has been v good so far but I think they’re just doors!

XWKD · 11/09/2025 13:56

I'd say no and tell them that their obnoxious sales techniques lost them the sale.
