School runs, Instagram posts, “look at my clever child”… AIBU to think parenting is as much performance as it is actual work?

My god, dont you ever get fed up of these posts?
Anyway it will shortly be deleted.

Ramblingaway · 11/09/2025 12:24

If it is, I'm only doing 50%. This may be due to having a long term health condition, having no social media apart from Mumsnet, or just because I can't be a*ed.

PollyBell · 11/09/2025 12:30

Yes there is newsletter you can sign up for with highlights including 'outfit's to wear so you can tiktok you pulling a plug you toddler decided to stick up the dogs backside' and 'enhance your profile by going on YouTube of you filling your car with your skirt tucked into your knickers'

Its all glamour

HotTiredDog · 11/09/2025 14:17

@PollyBell I want that newsletter!!

Didimum · 11/09/2025 15:59

What on earth? These 'performative' posts are getting absolutely ridiculous.

Hankunamatata · 11/09/2025 17:23

3 terrors. Only cute social media posts were when they had fallen asleep

Needmorelego · 11/09/2025 17:25

No... it's 50% parenting your kid, 50% hiding in the kitchen away from your kid 😂😂

DarkForces · 11/09/2025 17:29

I'm aiming for 10% parenting and 90% glory. I just need dd to let me post photos of my amazingness

Octavia64 · 11/09/2025 17:30

If it is then I obviously did it wrong,

tarmacpheasant · 11/09/2025 17:41

Most of the parents I know don't post their kids on social media.

This is a strange assessment 🤣

Boastful people exist in every aspect of life. Perhaps you live in a strange place where this is happening more frequently.

You need to spend more time in the real world and less on IG!

ForgetMeNotRose · 11/09/2025 17:52

You are correct. Mornings here are for parenting, afternoons fully dedicated to content creation. As we all know, what we share online is the fullest reflection of our lives. No parenting past 12.

KateMiskin · 11/09/2025 17:53

The OP will not be returning.

crackofdoom · 11/09/2025 17:56

No, it's 50% raising your kid, 50% moaning about raising kids 😆

frozendaisy · 11/09/2025 18:01

100% thanking you (when they hit teenage) that you didn't post anything online about them or let them post anything online about themselves or let them value themselves by online recognition.
