Political violence on the rise.

People are getting angry when people have Political views they don't agree with. Freedom of speech must be allowed not shutdown.

Tragic news of a young family man shot by someone today. Please remember he was a human with a family. Violence is never ok.

He was an acceptable casualty of gun violence according to his own logic

Berating people you disagree with isn’t removing their freedom of speech, so I’m not sure what you point you’re trying to make.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean that you are also free from others disagreeing with what you say!

Trump's also ordered flags at half mast. To be fair, he also did that when Melissa Hortman and husband were murdered. Not sure about the minute's silence. But honestly I think there should be a minute silence every single time a child is killed, along with the flags at half mast. Maybe then people would recognise how insane it is that children are dying because of gun laws (and mental health, that's also key) laws?

I just want to run away from the internet today. I'm so disturbed by the number of people commenting on his shooting who have said nothing before, about other political shootings, or the children being shot, or the other innocent people. And their focus is on freedom of speech rather than gun laws? My mind is just boggled by it.

I haven't read the Trump threads. Interesting no-one thought to discuss it as a stand alone issue since I image the Trump threads cover all sorts of things he's done/said/etc. My point stands though, a poster criticised me for starting a thread on CK and complained silence on here on M shooting. But said poster didn't bother to start one but was wrong then if M was discussed on Trump threads. So either way poster was incorrect.

I can't find anything on line to support the idea that he thought gay people deserved to be killed. Can you provide some support for that idea as expressed in your post?

It's very shocking that a speaker on a university campus could be assassinated in this way. To be honest, I'd never watched any of his online stuff. I was surprised that my older DC both instantly knew who he was though. One if them saw him speak fairly recently at Cambridge in the Union.

It was obviously a trained marksman who shot him, judging by the level of accuracy with just one shot. Very traumatic for anyone in that crowd to witness, and horrific that it was instantly shared on social media. Horrendous for his family.

Whoever shot him, for whatever reason, is stupid, as well as a murderer, because now this guy will become a martyr to the MAGA , ultra-Christian, anti-abortion anti- immigration agenda.

Is it true that this man was once asked whether if he had a 12 year-old daughter, and she became pregnant from incest or another type if rape, would he still insist on her having the baby.... and he said yes, he would???!!! Can this be true?

He quoted a verse in Leviticus used to justify stoning gay people to death and said it was part of ‘God’s perfect law when it comes to sexual matters.’
The context was him criticising a kids entertainer for saving ‘love your neighbour’ when talking about accepting all people incl The gay ones.
hes called gay people ‘an error’ and said being gay is like being an alkie or a drug addict.

the man was a right wing, bigot. There weren’t many none white- men he didn’t go after to be fair to him. Not just the gays. Pretty much anyone who didn’t look or think like him.
So far, so MAGA. Thats not speaking ill of the dead, just stating facts. Like the fact he thought deaths and murders in the US due to guns was an acceptable price to pay for the ‘right’ to protect’god given’ freedoms.

All of this is documented - filmed, videoed, available to see for anyone who cares to. He wasn’t embarrassed about his extreme views, he revelled in them - it’s how he made his $$$$. The more controversial, the more clicks and the more $$$ in his pocket.

I view all religious extremists as the same BTW, I don’t care which faith they purport to represent. They should be nowhere near our Civil rights and laws.

What an idiotic comparison. A more apt one would be, someone gets stabbed after they say "everyone should carry a knife on them at all times and sometimes people will get stabbed but that's just the price we pay for carrying knives". Fixed it.
