Where to go in October half term out of these options?

Will be taking a 4 year old and two dogs. Choices are Whitby/Scarborough area (thinking this will be cool around Halloween), Lake District or Peak District. We just want some lovely walks, a cosy air b&b and perhaps a few little things to keep the 4 year old entertained (I know the Lake District has Beatrix Potter world which she’d love).

Any suggestions welcome, I’m concious I need to book something soon before everything gets booked up.

All wonderful options!

I have been to Scarborough before so I know it’s nice there but would like to try somewhere new, just don’t want to get it wrong! If anyone knows of some nice villages/towns within the Peak District that would be fab x

I'd definitely go to Whitby/ Redcar/ Saltburn.
Punnet Park in Whitby is a must for kids.. loads to do.
Then the pirate ship.
Go see the Whale bone. Little fair near the harbour.
Boat trips.
Crabbing.

Peak District is lovely

We go to the Lakes every October half term, and I used to go as a child at that time of year. It's beautiful in October with the autumn colours, but go prepared for rain. There are plenty of indoor things to do.

Lots to do in Scarborough/Yorkshire coast

In the Peak District Matlock is a good option. Plenty for the kids to do including the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom, tramway museum, and good walks within a short drive. Bakewell is lovely as well.
