AI on MN

You will miss spelling mistakes when they are gone. AI is happening. Posters are using AI to make their posts/replys. It may have been their thought but in fact they gave information to AI and asked it to make their thoughts better, more understandable etc.
What is the future of MN if posts and replies are being done (with the help of) by AI.

I'd take spelling mistakes over AI.

I’d rather read posts written by AI than have to read the misspelling of the word “replies”.

I haven’t got time to be arsed faffing with AI for a reply. I may make spelling mistakes because of a visual impairment and being knackered all the time.

Posters are using AI to write replies.
It's obvious when you know what AI is.
It's not human and it's not human interaction, which is what MN is for.

Can you just ignore those obvious posts then? I don’t give it much thought, but for those that do, I don’t think you have much option sadly. Ai isn’t going away and I’m not sure how MN could stop it.

Best use of AI I have seen is dAIsy, from O2 I think, stopping scammers.

My OP wasn't about obvious posters but about what will happen to online communities like MN when everyone is using AI.

Might force us back into meatspace

People who notice and care will seek out places where you can be more certain of engaging with humans without any AI filter, including 'real life' communication.

Like a pp said, I don't have time or inclination to ask AI to clean up my random chat online, and I'm someone who uses AI daily for work. Unless or until it starts to sound much more natural, I can't understand why many people would want to use it for something like MN—though if it gets to the point that you can't tell the difference between something filtered by AI and something straight from a human brain, you have to wonder if it even matters, since we're mostly completely anonymous on here, anyway.
