Do you think teenagers should look for their own jobs, instead of the parents posting on Facebook?

Saw this by a parent. Does anyone know of any work going for a 16 year old?
No please or thanks. It was written by the parent.
Where's the basic manners? So lazy also.
I looked for my own work at 16. If I knew of any work going. I probably wouldn't answer this. I'd prefer someone who was looking themselves or someone that was more polite and possibly went into more detail.

16 year olds don't use Facebook for starters.

TinyIsMyNewt · 09/09/2025 16:40

I can't believe so many people are replying to the rude and entitled OP who didn't have the basic courtesy to "please" ask for people's opinions (demanding them instead) and hasn't thanked posters for taking the time out of their day to share theirs.

Teenagers these days seem to struggle with day to day life, never mind having to actually proactively apply for their own jobs😂 parents do way too much for older teens now, they've got really crap social skills and resilience because they just aren't given enough independence at all.

The post isn't about 'applying for a job', they are asking if anyone knows of any openings, which their child would then go and apply for. This has been happening since time began.

We had someone turn up to interview with their 18 year old and tried to answer questions for him. No nd just didn’t want the job

There’s nothing wrong with a parent helping their child in this way.

Ok parents asking if anyone knows of jobs that may be suitable. However, parents doing the next bit are doing the kids no favours. I know serveral people who are in a position to employ people ... if the wife phones for husband or parent for child then they won't touch them with a barge pole!
