Apologies if I've posted in the wrong thread I wasn't really sure where this should go!
So about 15 years ago I read this book and for the life of me I can't remember the title or author. It had two main characters called Jennifer Stone and Marcus...can't remember the surname. She was a journalist and can't remember his job but he was a freemason. It ended with Jennifer and her friend Anna being killed by a bomb in Jennifer's house that had been made to look like a gas leak. If I remember rightly Jennifer had found out some information about Marcus and the freemasons wanted her silenced.
Does this sound at all familiar to anyone? If so can anyone tell me what the book was called? Author as well would be a bonus? Thank you 😊

Dunno, but it sounds hilarious! Those Masons; never not at it.

It rings a bell, but can't remember the name. I'll go through my library ebooks, see if I can find it.

Is it The Fourth Estate by Rick Mofina?

Actually, scrap that.

It’s what Google AI came up with.. but I don’t think it’s an actual book! Hmm

This is what ChatGPT says…..

I can’t find any book that matches your description exactly—featuring characters named Jennifer Stone and Marcus (a Freemason) and ending with Jennifer and her friend Anna being killed by a disguised bomb in her home, following her uncovering of Masonic secrets.

The most promising lead involving Freemasonry turned up in The Lafayette Sword by Eric Giacometti & Jacques Ravenne, which includes a character named Antoine Marcas (note the similarity to “Marcus”) and deals with Freemasons, murders, and arcane symbolism . Their earlier novel, Shadow Ritual, also involves detective Antoine Marcas, neo-Nazi assassins, and Freemason mysteries . However, nothing indicates a character named Jennifer Stone, nor a journalist or a bombing disguised as a gas leak.

It’s possible that:

  • The names might have shifted in memory—Marcus could be Marcas, for instance.
  • The book could be by a lesser-known author or out of print, perhaps not well-documented online.
  • It might be a thriller or suspense novel with a Freemasonry-related conspiracy—even if the title or author aren’t widely recognized.
Would you happen to remember anything else—like the time period it was set in, when you read it, distinctive plot elements beyond what you’ve mentioned, or even fragments of the title? That might help narrow it down more effectively. Let me know any additional detail you recall, and I’ll dive deeper!

Thank you for your efforts!
I honestly for the life of me can't remember at all what is what called or even the author. I think the author was female? That is 💯 no help at all is it 🤣
The book itself had a lot of sex in it! But the story was excellent, at the end all I remember was Jennifer had found out a lot of dodgy stuff about Marcus and the freemasons killed her by setting a bomb up to look like a gas leak at her home. Her best friend was also staying there..and I think her young daughter too? But it ended with the fact that Jennifer had sent all the information about Marcus to Anna's husband and thats literally how it ends with the husband about to open this incriminating document. It was such a good story and I'd love to read it again but I just cannot remember the name of it! It was at least 15 years ago I read it so may not be in print anymore.
