THEY ARE ALL THUGS FOLLOWING EACH OTHER LIKE SHEEP. THE FAR-RIGHT SAYS DO THIS, AND THEY ACT. GET EDUCATED.

The problem with the current approach to political discourse is that everyone espousing their views always believes that they are firmly correct.

Left or right, I don’t care what side you are on just keep an open mind.

FYI - there are no ‘far right’ views posted on MN.

And all at the same time!!

And here you are Grin

Labour are fucking it up all by themselves, you can't rely on lurking and shill accusations to save polling. It'll get even worse now Rayner has fucked it up too.

Agree. Although for me the bigger problem is identity politics. People are getting so caught up in being 'right' about certain issues that they're basing a huge part of their personality around them. To the point that they take any criticism or disagreement as a personal insult and an attack on their very character.

I couldn’t agree more. It just ends up being voices shouting in to a void because of this. If someone bases their entire personality on their political opinion then of course they’re not going to be open to having their mind changed.

You see on here a lot that people are considering dumping life long friends because they have a different stance on something - that’s how you end up in an echo chamber. It’s horrendous.

I hold liberal views on some topics and conservative views on others - I’m always open to changing my mind when I learn more. I like to hear all sides of an argument and not get emotional about it.

What I find terrifying is people who think their views are right and anyone else who thinks differently is wrong.

That's what the left call fascism. You know that nasty way of thinking that belongs on the right. Except it doesn't, there are just as many bigots on the Left as the Right.

That's a bit of a daft thing to say really. It's not fascism. It's just called having opinions. Of course I think my opinion is right, it's why it's my opinion. It's not fascism to think other people are wrong.

Muffinmam · 06/09/2025 16:00

Riiight…. Is there any way you could say something constructive?

It’s a pendulum. When social policy goes too far left then people react and are drawn to the right - who provide the only option to voice their discontent. So the numbers for the far right increase.

It’s happening in my country right now with mass migration. We don’t have enough houses to put people in. People are living in their cars and setting up tents in suburbs. So pretty much everyone is angry and there will be a change of government at the next election.

I agree. It is voices shouting into a void. I think it is the 'shouting' rather than the genuine discussion that is the worst thing about it. A real lack of thinking - just calling people..Angela Rayner or Boris Johnson names. If you look on the threads on Redditt - more discussion, even dare I say humour rather than the constant 'Bigot Phillipson' and so on. Is it stress relief, genuine anger, people actually engaged with changing opinion - who knows..but it is all very dull... on both sides. Maybe it's people who don't have an outlet in real life.

Edited

If that's aimed at me then yes I am angry at Labour. I feel the same about them as you probably do about Thatcher! Do I tell you how to feel? No, then stop policing how others feel.

FYI she IS a bigot, if you had a child at independent school you would realise this.
If you are going to have a go at me then at least have the balls to do it to me directly instead of passive aggressively via reply to another poster.

Beachwalksinwinter · 06/09/2025 17:31

@Twistyizzy- It wasn't a personal attack - just something I remembered from a previous thread. However feel free to report my post and MN will delete. I do have a child at an independent school - I pay the fees. I wouldn't call BP a 'bigot' - I would choose my words with a little more thought.

I did think about my words and that word was carefully chosen to describe what I think of her. Prove to me she isn't because her sneery snide tweets and language prove she is. She is also a liar, proven in court.

singthing · 06/09/2025 17:38

I find that almost every single person who uses a version of "get educated" is themselves following a cult/ideology/groupthink where the only acceptable education is the one they have been told to believe themselves.

BlakeCarrington · 06/09/2025 17:42

YOU ARE COMING ACROSS AS A SHOUTY DUMBO OP

singthing · 06/09/2025 17:45

Velmy · 06/09/2025 13:05

An absolute nothing burger of a post in ALL CAPS telling people to 'Get educated'.

A classic of the genre 😅

If all someone has to contribute to the conversation are poorly articulated insults towards the other side, they're just another part of the problem.

You should absolutely ignore far-right racists, or tell them to fuck off if that's your thing. Their views may be abhorrent, but if you're not willing to try and understand how they've come to hold them, you're never going to change their mind. You're not helping, you're just contributing to the divide.

It seems like a continuation of the "I think you are simply too stupid to vote/think the way I do, which makes me a better person than you. I don't know why you don't agree with me?" attitude.

Marchitectmummy · 06/09/2025 17:54

I'm not sure your post will help your arguement.

CoffeeCantata · 06/09/2025 19:36

drivinmecrazy · 06/09/2025 12:34

That’s my point.
the debate is being dominated by hard of thinking people who are not wanting to debate or discuss.
not those of us who are willing and able to listen to another point of view

It’s always the case…the empty vessels make the most noise.

In my career I’ve seen mainly hard-left idiots, and they’re scary, but not for the reasons they’d like to be - more because they’re prejudiced, simple-minded, vengeful, envious, small-minded gits.

i think you could apply those adjectives to the hard right too. The extreme ends of the political spectrum are occupied by very unpleasant, dogmatic and embittered people.

Hiptothisjive · 06/09/2025 19:37

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/09/2025 08:29

One could say the same of people who post ignorant comments suggesting people who have a different opinion to them are part of some giant homogeneous group.
Education is needed by some on both sides of whatever debate it is you think you are having here

Plus it helps to not shout solely using capital letters 😂

millymollymoomoo · 06/09/2025 19:55

ODFOD

the problem with the left is they agree with free speech as long as its what they agree with

RedRiverShore5 · 06/09/2025 20:01

Someone has left the cap lock on

Messycoo · 06/09/2025 20:12

Spookyspaghetti · 06/09/2025 09:08

The right is a non homogeneous group whose views should be respected. (within reason) The far right is made up of mostly prescribed groups because they threaten the laws of our country and often support terrorist actions. We should stop pandering to the far right and letting them think their opinions are valid and equal.

Said the lefty .
