So we have three boys (8,10,12) and we may have one meal a week that they ALL eat (for instance spaghetti bolognaise) but every.other.night I am cooking a different meal as one doesn’t like noodles for instance the other doesn’t eat beans, one only eats fries, the other two can’t stand them, one likes burgers the other likes fish fingers (but only on a certain day ya’know!)

And then one day they like something and the next week they don’t!?

Ive tried the whole you’ll eat what I’ve made and nothing else ….. they then don’t eat !

The kids are being unreasonable right?
(please tell me they’re being unreasonable, from a very frustrated mother, who hates cooking dinner and then they don’t eat it 😭)

OP I totally understand, I have child with ASD and potential ADHD and another with food intolerances. My ND child wouldn’t eat for days when we tried the ‘this is dinner no choices etc’ we’ve now reached the point where we have 4 meals that we can all eat but served family style with different sides eg meatballs with baguette/rice/pasta. Roast chicken but with wraps or veg/gravy. This way I feel like I’m cooking 1 meal and it’s easy enough to just pop on some extra pasta etc. As there’s ND we have a solid routine eg roast is Thursday, meatballs Monday etc and the other days we muddle through with a mix of quick plain pasta / pizza and beige air fryer food. Vegetables have been a difficult area forever so my children have 1 or 2 they will eat raw and that’s enough for now. When you’ve got ND in the family you need to give yourself space and time to build up the new foods and routines slowly. We found the best way to introduce new foods was working together e.g. ‘you like meatballs so look we’ll squash one and turn it into a burger’ so same food but different shape etc was great for my son who looks suspiciously at all food!
