To ask how often your toddler doesn’t pick up a sickness bug but you/the household does?!

DP and I been unwell all night. I’ll spare the details. DD 2.5 woke up happy, had breakfast and I dragged myself to take her to nursery. What are the chances she’s escaped this? We are supposed to be catching a flight tomorrow 😭

My son is 5, in year 1 and has never had a sickness bug yet but I’ve had 2 since he started nursery/school which I’m certain came from him as there was a sickness bug going round his class at that time

Me and DH have had a few D&V bugs which the kids haven't caught. Pretty sure they were carries home from nursery or school as well as it was going around.

I came to say this - sometimes they pass stuff on but are asymptomatic.

Happens a lot, DH had an awful virus a few weeks back, nobody else got it. When myself and DS had Covid neither DH or DD got it. When DH got it, nobody else did (as a side note, I decided DD is immune to it and is like that girl in The Last of Us 😂)

Is there a scientific explanation for it?!

As pp have said, DC might have already had the illness without showing any symptoms. Or you may have picked up somthing from virus being on her clothes/belongings brought back from nursery. It's not a definite that she'll get ill.

I dont think we've ever had a sick bug which one of the DC didn't have first, but I remember one where DC1 was sick once and then basically fine. DH and I caught it 48 hours later and it totally flattened both of us for a few days.
