Opting out of nursery top up fees

So after questioning if my 2 year olds nursery would reduce the £15 per day top up fee if he had his breakfast and tea at home due to financial constraints i was told we could opt out as long as we provided a packed lunch, nappies/wipes & we would have limited access to the ‘app’ which we agreed to. Fast forward to when the funding started this week it has been nothing short of a nightmare!!! They insisted on checking our lunchbox each morning at drop off and are now saying as they eat their tea at 3.30 he also needs to take tea in (i did provide a snack so he is not sat without anything whilst the others eat then he will eat a hot dinner with his family at home at 5.30 as he does every other day) they are not happy with this and said he needs a full meal! to make it worse they won’t accept hot food and will not reheat food so basically I am left with the only option of my son going without a hot meal on his nursery days! In addition to this the restriction to the app has not just taken off his nappy changes and food which i expected but they are not even putting his naps on there which obviously you need to know as a parent! we have taken it to higher management and they are not budging the only option is to pay for a hot dinner or pick him up before dinner at 3.30!! does anyone have any advice or similar experiences?

This is why nurseries are closing down. Just pay the top up if you want all the extras.

I used to provide hot food in a food flask, for my 2. Then the staff could just pour it out into a dish for them.

I used to pay the extra, the government funding is so low.

Can’t you just send sandwiches for tea, a small portion then he can also have a small portion of family dinner at home? I also don’t think you need to know the naps on an app, no one had this before a few years ago and kids were fine. You can just ask at pick but even that isn’t necessary as you’ll be able to tell if he’s tired or not at pick up by his demeanour.
