Shady Shae somewhat undermines antifas anti-Tommy Robinson message

JamieCannister · 04/09/2025 08:03

Does anyone else know Shady Shae on social media? He seems to be a London-based, Nigerian-born youtuber. He seems to believe that immigrants should integrate with and celebrate the countries that they come to.

Anyway, the point. Around 22nd August give or take he posted a video on youtube called "Black Man Took the St George’s Cross to a Protest… What Happened SHOCKED Me!" He has posted plenty of similar videos before.

AIBU to ask those people who regard antifa-types as heroes fighting the fascism and racism of Tommy Robinson and the "hard left" to watch the video above and tell me what evidence of racism and fascism was on show? AIBU to say that there it is hard to see a crowd as racist when it is showing massive levels of love to a black Nigerian?

Or, they can't be arsed anymore.🤷‍♀️

Maybe. Doesn’t really add up though, given that he’s got a much larger platform now than historically. Surely push back is needed now more then ever? Have MNetters really just given up on fighting the rise of “The Far Right” and “Racism”?

TempestTost · 04/09/2025 17:51

I think that people like TR tend to show their best side on things like that interview with the Triggernormatiy guys. However, what that does mean is that he knows that is the kind of thing a lot of people agree with and that more extreme attitudes will lose him sympathy even among the crowd he wants to appeal to.

As far as the feelings that group actually has about non-white people. Yes, most of them don't care about skin colour, and they aren't racists in that sense, and their beef is more about other things like economic impacts or effects on infrastructure. Which isn't a huge surprise, many regular wc people who are now considering voting Reform are themselves living close to, working with, marrying, and having family members of other races.

I am not sure why so many on the left can't manage to comprehend that social friction about things like immigration or cultural differernces might not be about race, or that people who are African or Asian or Caribbean might be quite conservative.

As far as the idea that disagreement about social issues is racism whether or not race has anything to do with it, wtf? It sometimes seems that racism is supposed to be a sort of universal solvent, it doesn't ,matter what the issue is, it always falls under racism.

Shakeoffyourchains · 04/09/2025 18:00

The OP "You do realise "I am right but refuse to look at the evidence" makes you look very narrow minded and ignorant?"

Also the OP "(5) I gave up at the cultural racism bit."

I'm always astounded by how little self awareness the far right have 😅

So tell us @JamieCannister, what is it about a man who's been convicted of fraud, harassment, stalking, possession with intent to supply and immigration offences, who co-founded a unquestionably racist group and who publicly defended a convicted paedophile, while associating with at least 20 more, that appeals to you so much?

TooBigForMyBoots · 04/09/2025 18:13

Jumpingthruhoops · 04/09/2025 17:51

Nope. Definitely think it's the former. People are now more attuned to media manipulation and are more willing to judge watch, listen and decide for themselves.

This is evident from the comments under that Triggernometry interview. Take a look.

I agree, People are now more attuned to media manipulation .... That's why they've stopped giving TR the clicks. They know how he's funded.🤷‍♀️

Maybe they realise that when you get a bunch of Tommeh supporters coincidentally joining a thread in a short period of time and then a) asking for evidence and then refusing to look at it, followed by b) sealioning about what "racism really is", it's pointless to engage.

Saying "P*s are all smelly and thick" is racist.

Using the word "p*" in a mixed race group that includes pakistanis and where people of all races use the word is not in itself racist. HTH.

I bet you anything TR has more black and asian mates than the average middle class white person who slags him off.

Of course it is and it was 30 years ago in my working class bit of South London. And BNP were busy beating up my Asian friends back then so Tommy’s wide-eyed innocence doesn’t float.

If it quacks and waddles, it’s a duck.

No rewriting of history - if you actually read my post, I clearly state that, yes, I'm fully aware there will always be racists. There was then and there is now.

However, there has also always been a majority who've welcomed - both then and now - those who are happy to work hard and integrate. Whatever the colour of their skin.

That’s that revisionism again. They certainly were not “welcomed by a majority.”

^^ This.

I mean when you get to “it’a not racist to call people P*kis” and calling everybody that disagrees “The Left” or (my personal favourite) “white middle class” it’s time to just nod and leave it at that.

I think you are incorrect that there is, and always has been a majority that are willing to welcome those who “work hard and integrate irrespective of skin colour”.

Well, then we have to agree to disagree.

He doesn't appeal to me so much.

My point is that he is not racist (or if he is it is nothing like the level of racism he is presented as).

I don;t know what convicted paedophile you are referring to, but he UNDOUBTEDLY has a problem with paedophiles and has done loads to highlight the issues of paedophile rape gangs.

You asked for evidence and I gave it to you. That you couldn't be bothered to read it yet are still demanding that people show you evidence speaks volumes about how disingenuous you really are being here.

They have no interest whatsoever in discussion, that was clear from the first post.

Just more racist rabble rousing from the usual suspects.

Absolutely!

OP: Show me video evidence of him being racist

Shown video of him using racist terms.

OP. That doesn't count as racism!

FFS.

By trying to prejudice trials of suspects and make their convictions unsafe?Hmm I've heard he has been hired for this very purpose.

He is as racist as people say he is.

Goldenbear · 05/09/2025 11:53

JamieCannister · 04/09/2025 14:36

You have absolutely every right not to be interested in him.

On the other hand - as someone who hates racism and hates the thought of even more national disunity - I believe that I need to listen to people like Farage and TR because they have massive support, and their popularity has only risen whilst they have been ignored and or demonized by the mainstream media. I believe that listening to the concerns of ordinary people, especially if they are majority views, is essential, otherwise we risk the genuine hard right or corrupt grifters like Farage gaining power.

Are we watching and listening to the same, "Mainstream Media", they give loads of uncritical airtime Farage et al. !
