To ask if there’s anyone awake to give a hand hold?

I’m only holiday and I’ve just been awfully sick, like from the depths of my stomach. I’ve got pretty bad health anxiety and hate being sick, and now im worried I’ll ruin the rest of the holiday because I’ve got a big! I’m certain it’s because I’m on Mounjaro and ate a bit too much yesterday, but it doesn’t ease the anxiety at all! I’m all shaky now and feel horrid, so anyone able to just give a handhold?

I’m also awake feeling sick from Mounjaro! Start new job in the morning and have no idea how I’m going to cope. Debating whether to wake DH for some reassurance but not sure how he’ll react to that…

SadTimesInFife · 03/09/2025 02:04

It's awful being ill at night as one feels so alone.

Vomiting is grim but you might feel better after throwing up??

hand hold

BlueLimes · 03/09/2025 02:10

Have a few sips of water and gradually increase.

you’ll be ok !

AnotherDayanotherNameChangeX · 03/09/2025 02:13

I’ve done the same after overeating on mounjaro, it’s awful but in my experience you’re only sick the once and then start to feel better.
sips of water and sleep it off x

DysmalRadius · 03/09/2025 02:19

Can you listen to an engaging (but not too exciting) podcast or audiobook? I find that things always feel worse when I'm over thinking them but if I can distract myself the nausea settles and it helps me catch some sleep. Fingers crossed you'll feel better soon... 🤞🤞

Caerulea · 03/09/2025 02:21

It's awful getting an attack of health anxiety in the night, you feel so alone, especially when you are actually being sick. Personally, I'd wake your other half for some comfort & do not Google!

Take some comfort that pp have said they've been sick on mounjaro & focus on breathing in through your nose into your diaphragm & out through your mouth.

Have you got a silly, mindless game you can play on your phone?

LinedOverLatte · 03/09/2025 02:25

Hoping that you feel better soon and can get some sleep. It will just be the side effects I’m sure, it’s a very common one but soon settles.

Try and sip water and get some sleep. Your rational brain knows that’s all it is (I don’t mean ‘all’ - it’s still horrible) but your health anxiety is catastrophising sadly. It’s probably not a bug and your holiday isn’t ruined.

You can do this @needaquickhandholdand you’re braver than you think.

Best wishes for the remainder of your holiday x

Forafew · 03/09/2025 02:26

Yes you do have to be careful on mounjaro, I learned the hard way that small bland meals are the only way.
At least you can rest tomorrow as you'll be tired, do not overeat again and stick to your safe foods, no fatty fried stuff, even a small amount would have me heaving up. Plain chicken and a small salad, yogurt from breakfast with a little fruit for hydration, do you have any pepto bismol? I never go ANYWHERE without it it's a life saver in situations like this. Get some if you can, it will pass but it's shit while it's happening.

Vitriolinsanity · 03/09/2025 02:26

I’ve just woken up shrieking because I thought a spider was on my face. It was my hair.

Are having a great holiday, tonight excepted?

Pinkwineandpinksofa · 03/09/2025 02:39

I’m hoping this feeling has past and you will be fast asleep right now???
How many weeks have you been on mounjaro? In the early days if I overate it wasn’t nice.

do you have some diorylite (sp) sachets or any extra electrolytes? If not loads of (bottled) water will be good enough. You will be ok. Really no need to panic x

Jojo2408 · 03/09/2025 02:41

I’ve suffered with severe health anxiety and general anxiety all my life. I sympathise with you! One symptom can set you off on a downwind spiral. When I can’t sleep I listen to guided meditations on YouTube. I particularly like ‘Cottage in the snow’ by the Honest Guys. Usually always sends me off to sleep and stops all the mental chatter.

SpidersAreShitheads · 03/09/2025 03:05

Being sick is never pleasant and doubly so when you’re not in your own home.

Weirdly the fact that it’s due to Mounjaro is good. It means that it should pass very quickly and you won’t be ill for days. It’s also within your control not to feel like this on your holiday again.

(all of that is meant to be reassuring, for the avoidance of doubt!)

Hopefully you’ll feel better tomorrow and can enjoy your holiday 💐

Glitchymn1 · 03/09/2025 03:17

Friend was sick even not eating and only drinking water. She can’t eat anything remotely fatty or feels sick. Hopefully you’ll feel better tomorrow.

Yes i fell asleep eventually, after lots of googling (around 3:30am our time!). The holiday has been brilliant so far. I’ve been on Mounjaro for over a year at this point and this has never happened to me before! I’ve put it down to that as the alternative would be a bug and I can’t really be ill at the moment 😅

Now I’ve woken up a bit I definitely feel better. Still a bit grim, but you always do after being sick! I’m going to grab a new toothbrush after my day trip today and make sure I’m drinking a ton of water

Hope your day trip goes well, I would have been a wipe out I'm afraid. I see you h been on it a while though so know what you are dealing with may be, the daylight always helps you feel less anxious.

I feel like I’m fighting for my life with the crowds and heat! But it’s my last day in Rome so I wanted to come and see everything!

Not as sick, just knackered and too hot! We’re going up to northern Italy tomorrow so hoping it’s cooler!
