Do I believe this

Someone has made a very serious allagatiin of sexual abuse by someone close to me
apparantky this allegation was made 18 years ago
it was never reported to the police
this person has alleged 4 or people have raped her and that both her children were sexually assaulted by family members

I don’t know what to do or think
it makes me so scared someone could make these things up as they can ruin a life similarly it makes me scared not to believe someone who has suffered this

interestingly the person then made up with the alleged attacker a few years later and they were on friendly terms for a good ten years - invited to all their events etc

You've mentioned more than 4 attackers and more who sexually assaulted children?

Either way ask yourself this.

If someone accused you of doing something so serious as sexual assault and they were telling bare faced lies, would you then make up with them and start inviting them to events?

Of course you wouldn't unless you were guilty and wanted to prevent them going to the police perhaps?
