Am I the only one to feel it's taken years to understand what is the right kind of partner?

I lost my virginity to a nice guy.
Two kids and two life relationships later, I feel like actually the only time I liked what happened was when I was pre-20.
But now I'm having a renaissance and I finally seem to be able to choose what I want. And I know what I want.

Is it just me? (it well could be, I'm a super late developer haha)

Well they do say youth is wasted on the young and at my age I can see why.
