Hi
Has anyone had acupuncture for TMJ and has it helped?
Thanks

I had it a few years ago. It didn’t really help I’m afraid.
I’ve tried pretty much everything and the only things that really work are a custom mouthguard (made by the dentist) and regular Botox into the masseter muscle (and also the temples, which are affected by the jaw clenching).

Hi OP, yes I have. I’d say I think it helps? But at a similar time as I started I found out I have some hypermobility issues, so I’ve accepted it’ll be an ongoing thing I need to manage (seems to reappear before my period).

Thanks. My ear jaw and temple area are throbbing constantly with headaches around my temple. If it starts to get worse I'll look at botox I think

No I haven't but Botox has really helped.

I’m the same as you , I’ve tried everything too apart from Botox . Too scared 😫.

I’ve suffered with tinnitus for the last 6 years ,
pretty sure it’s because of my jaw !

Mines only been this last 9 months. I have tinnitus too and had an mri last week waiting on results.

I was fuming that I got TMJ despite already having the masseter botox.

I had a day of very boring meetings and spent the whole day massaging it and it worked a miracle.

The Botox is great by the way, no more painful teeth or endless facial pain and headaches.

Ir didn’t work for me but a really good night guard (I’d had lots of crappy ones) and Botox helped.

Sorry to hijack the thread but has anyone been made a michigan splint? My dentist is making me one but they're £600 so it would need to work!
