Homemade soup left out of fridge

Husband made a big batch of leek and potato soup, leeks, potato’s, onions, garlic, stock and seasoning/herbs.

If it was left out, on the oven top with a lid on would you eat it 2 or 3 days later?

One of us would, one of us wouldn’t touch it on day 2 of not being refrigerated.

YANBU: I would eat it
YABU: I would NOT eat it

Well it hasn't got meat in it and its been covered and its not been hot. I'm lazy enough to heat that through well and try it. You'll know if it tastes wrong.

Manysocks · 31/08/2025 21:34

Nope.

TheKeatingFive · 31/08/2025 21:34

I would eat it

Whatifitallgoesright · 31/08/2025 21:34

And if so, HE has to cook another tea as it was his fault it's wasted

Comedycook · 31/08/2025 21:34

I wouldn't...three days is a long time!

user2848502016 · 31/08/2025 21:35

Up to 24h I would depending on kitchen temperature but not after 2 days

WrigglyDonCat · 31/08/2025 21:35

I'd eat it, it's just veg. Heat it well and scoff.

WomanDaresTo · 31/08/2025 21:37

It's traditional in the Highlands to store a pot of soup on the stove for many days (although it usually gets boiled daily). Was shocked to learn that isn't done down south).

I'd smell it and give it a good boil.

Gastropod · 31/08/2025 21:39

I’d transfer to a different pan, heat it thoroughly (boiling point) and then taste test. As it’s warm this time of year it might have gone off but I personally wouldn’t be especially worried.

Iansavestheday · 31/08/2025 21:41

I definitely wouldn’t. I’m quite fussy about food though.
