Swap Shop or Saturday Superstore?

Neither. Much too staid and boring. Give me TISWAS any day!

OonaStubbs · 01/09/2025 00:23

Saturday Superstore was rubbish. I can't remember what was on the other side at that point but I always watched that instead.

100% agree

Going Live and Live and Kicking were more my era.

JennyWrenSeven · 01/09/2025 03:16

Saturday is Tiswas
Never a day to miss ‘cus …..

BlueEyedBogWitch · 01/09/2025 03:21

🎶Saturday morning go down to the Superstore
(Superstore)
You’re asking what it’s for
You’re gonna meet all your friends and so much more 🎶

I loved it. Up in time for it starting, breakfast in front of the telly, didn’t budge until it was over. Tiswas scared me with its anarchy. I was a very middle-aged child.

Justanotherdramalama · 01/09/2025 04:04

Sorry op neither of those options, probably because they were both well before my time. I am 100% for SMTV (Ant&Dec) making a come back to Saturday morning tv... that show was epic!

Namechangedasouting987 · 01/09/2025 05:07

Swap Shop

Somnambule · 01/09/2025 05:17

Neither. On the waterfront was the best Saturday morning TV ever, it was only on for a really short time ( post-Going Live I think). Would love to watch that again.

mnistooaddictive · 01/09/2025 05:20

SMTV live was definitely the best. Getting all the pop stars in chums was brilliant

You are my kind of person !!

I found the Tiswas ‘anarchy’ boring and didn’t ‘get’ it !!

Why do you think it was rubbish ?

I think it was interesting with a varied format - not that different from Swap Shop - - minus the Swap element

OP posts:
NooNakedJacuzziness · 01/09/2025 07:24

Swap Shop! Cheggers stuck out in a rainy Weston super Mare trying to swap a Simon Says for a Mousetrap, happy days. TISWAS was a bit too smug and “we’re mad we are” for me

jettisoned · 01/09/2025 07:32

Swap shop or Saturday Banana - we could only watch Saturday Banana went we went to visit grandparents, I don't think it was shown everywhere. The Southern tv studio used to have a massive banana outside 😂

ExtraOnions · 01/09/2025 08:12

Swap Shop … what a concept “I’d like to swap a Pogo Stick for a Space Hopper”. .. or Keith Chegwin doing an OB from a freezing cold beach in Southend.

We were a Tizwas house, though you could watch bits of Swap Shop during the adverts

InOverMyHead84 · 01/09/2025 08:14

SM TV Live. Pure brilliance that they wouldn't get away with today.

shellyleppard · 01/09/2025 08:15

@JennyWrenSeven "today is Saturday wear a smile"?

Ah you see Going Live started when I was around 14 and a half so by this time I’d lost interest completely in Saturday morning kids TV so hadn’t seen either of these shows

Ah I was 25 by the time SMTV started so while I sometimes sat down in front of it so knew who was on - Cat Deeley as well? I never followed it or was invested in it

Live and Kicking but only the Zoe and Jamie years.

Maybe SMTV if there was a way I could watch A&D without feeling repulsed by
their overexposure and utter smugness.

But apologies to @XmasTreelights because I do realise none of that was what you asked 😂.

That’s ok I like getting people’s takes even if it’s on different shows altogether

Live and Kicking was a show I wasn’t familiar with at all

I still even remember the L&K phone number (0181 811 8181) so I think I was perhaps too familiar with it!
