To not want to kiss my husband after work dinners?

I grew up in a country where a lot of men have a drinking problem and when I would go in the elevator up to our apartment as a child and a man would also be in the elevator, it would sometimes reek of booze. I was always grossed out as my family drank only in moderation on holidays.

When my husband comes back from a work dinner (3 times a year or so), his breath smells the same way and I can't even bring myself to kiss him. When we drink together (wine with dinner) it's not an issue, I can't smell anything gross.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that you have every right to say that you don't like kissing him when he smells of alcohol. Have you ever told him this?

What has prompted you to ask?

I'm just wondering why I can't smell anything when I've also been drinking? You'd think I would? I've told him and he understands

Could you have a drink on the nights you know he'll be drinking? Otherwise just politely say can you brush your teeth and use mouthwash before we kiss etc.

100% feel the same about this. I always put it down to having inhibitions reduced by having a couple of drinks. I cannot bear the smell of beer when I've not had any 🤢

I mean, you can refuse to kiss for any reason, its a privilege not a right to be given a kiss, but this sounds like punishment?

If it is YABU, if its not then just tell him to brush his teeth as suggested above...simple, no drama
