Does a washing machine need to be plugged into its own circuit? Or can it be plugged into any socket in the kitchen?

I would elect to plug it into any 13amp electrical socket you have available.

Mine is plugged into a double 13amp socket under my sink. Dishwasher alongside it. Perfectly safe for the last 30 years.

It's usually a special socket as 20 amps is recommended.

It's a good idea to have the dishwasher, washing machine and dryer on a separate circuit, not the main kitchen appliance one.

A washing machine is usually rated about 2.2 kW - less than a kettle. I'm not sure why it would need a dedicated circuit.

Thanks everyone.
