Wine gone off?

Just on holiday and ordered wine and it was obviously really off. The bar tender came over and drank from my glass and said it’s fine. I didn’t want up drink from same glass as his so said I will pay for it but I will not drink it so pls take away. He became very irritate, what would you do? For context first time I stood up for myself usually I wouldn’t make a fuss but as I’m getting older I’m starting to stand up for myself

He then came up to us at the end and tried to bully me saying there was nothing wrong with the wine and trying to make me feel stupid. I’m 50 years old and not the first wine I have ever drank! I paid for everything including the wine but gave no tip

So…what’s your question?

I wouldn’t make a thread about it. It’s a non-event. If I didn’t like the wine I’d just leave it.

I just found the guy very intimating. He came to me very aggressively and took a swig and said there’s nothing wrong! My DH as usual does t see my upset. Why didn’t he put in a separate glass and try that way. He made me feel stupid. I just commented to the waitress that it tastes a bit sour when she asked how everything was. My DH making me feel like I’m out of order

Was it a local specialty like retsina?

I wouldn’t have paid for the wine either. I mean, it may be a difference of option whether wine is off or not. Considering how uptight he was about it, my guess is it was and he was trying to save face.

But at no point should anyone be drinking from your glass and then expecting you to want to carry on drinking from it. He should have retrieved the bottle, poured himself a small measure and tasted it.

It was just a bog standard pinot like I’ve been having all week from same place

DH being really funny with me right now. The bartender and waitress we have to see for rest of week as it’s the hotel bar. I don’t feel I can show my face there anymore!
