If you’re reasonably wealthy, would this amount of money out of the blue still be nice?

Or would it make little difference to you?

10k. As a random win or gift etc

Yes, I'd love it and could immediately think of several things to do with it.

Zov · 27/08/2025 16:30

Yes. DH and I are mortgage free, (mid 50s now - been mortgage free for about a decade...) Both DC have flown the nest a decade ago and are totally independent. Also, we have savings in the bank/building society in the high 5 figures, and 2 decent private pensions each (to come.)

But still a £10K win on the lotto or something would be very welcome! 😃

Newsenmum · 27/08/2025 16:31

Incredibly useful! It depends what you mean by wealthy. we technically are but we live in an expensive part of the country. So that would be brilliant!

Ukkake · 27/08/2025 16:33

What do you class as ‘reasonably wealthy’?

SummerFrog25 · 27/08/2025 16:34

I fail at the first hurdle, I'm not reasonably wealthy.

But if it's £10k as a win or gift that you can just spend without having to justify it, it must surely still be very nice

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 27/08/2025 17:34

I got a 10k win on premium bonds a couple of years ago. I had just left my job to go self employed and found myself unexpectedly pregnant.

It was super exciting, even though all I did was add it to my decent savings buffer. It still isn't spent - it's earmarked for elective surgery in a couple of years.

Shakeyourbaublesandsmile · 27/08/2025 17:38

I think I am reasonably wealthy

I still buy oops stickers so 10k - I’d snap your bloody hand off 😂

DeborahKerr · 27/08/2025 17:40

what a strange question, why wouldn't it be nice?

A gift is a gift, you can buy a VERY decent holiday for that amount, what's not to like.

Crushed23 · 27/08/2025 17:41

I net more than that per month and yes, it still would be nice as I could add it to my “fuck off out of this job and do something less stressful” fund.
