Just feeling so down..

18 weeks pregnant and feeling totally lost and down.
I only get paid one week sick of leave with my job and this month I’ve had to take so much time off sick due to vomiting, migraines and just feeling generally rubbish. So this pay check alone I’ve lost £500 of pay.
I only get paid SMP so I’m trying to save every penny until I go off in December. My plan was to save 5-6k before baby comes but I’m nowhere near that. Honestly I’m stressing about how we’re going to survive on mat leave as my partners salary only just covers the mortgage and bills.
I am now having to go into work when I don’t feel physically or mentally well enough because I just can’t afford to be off, which probably isn’t good for the baby.
I should be excited but all I feel is stressed and panicky about money. Most of my pregnant friends get paid in full for 6 months of mat leave, and get 6 months sick leave. I can’t help but be jealous of their situations as they don’t have to worry about anything 😢

I don’t know what the point of this post I just needed to whine.

This sounds really tough for you. And I'm sorry to hear your pregnancy is taking such a physical and emotional toll on you. Is there any way you and DP can bring in some additional income over the next few months? DP doing some overtime, or asking a family member for some financial support? It might also be worth checking on entitledto if there's any benefits you could get, especially after baby is born.
You're right that going into work when you're not feeling well isn't good for baby, but there are other ways you can help - practice relaxation, gentle exercise, good diet and plenty of rest. Speak to your midwife also and she may be able to signpost you to local perinatal mental health services.
And lastly I know it's hard but try not to resent your friends for their situation. Yes they are more fortunate than you in respect of getting sick pay and mat leave, but that certainly won't mean they don't have to worry about anything.
