My ex wanted to have the kids 50/50 , he used to give me a small amount of money now he’s stopped. I’m on minimum wage and he earns over 15 ,000 a month. What can I do

Do you mean he actually does have the DC 50/50, or just that he wanted to?

Were you married? If so, what does your consent order say and how long ago was it signed?

He has the kids half of the time. We were not narrow and nothing has been written down. He can be very controlling

If its 50/50 nobody needs to pay maintenance

PersephoneParlormaid · 27/08/2025 07:54

Agree with pp, if he has them 50% he doesn’t need to pay anything.

WifeOfAGemini · 27/08/2025 07:58

Is he genuinely doing 50:50 (play dates, dental appointments, organising birthday parties etc)

If not I’d be pushing hard for him to carry the full 50% responsibility.

You cannot make him pay you anything if it is 50:50 - I see why that feels very harsh but it’s just the reality

Zempy · 27/08/2025 08:43

Oh dear. If you weren’t married then in your current situation he owes you nothing legally.

Can you apply for UC?

Can you try to get a better job?

He doesn’t go to the children’s hospital appointments. My son has disability and needs to go to hospital every three months . So he doesn’t do half really .
