Do some people never grow out of caring about appearances on social media?

Out for lunch on Sunday at a country pub - me, DH our kids and my friend and her DH and three kids.

Her and her DH were at each others throats, the kids were playing up - she text me after to say how stressful she found it and that her DH was being an arse.

Last night, she puts up a photo on Instagram of us all at the table and captions it along the lines of ‘the loveliest afternoon at X pub’

I jokingly messaged her to say she has changed her tune and she replied ‘yeah I know, but you can’t go there without posting on insta can you, it’s part of the premium’.

Now I love my friend but can’t help but feel this is a bit tragic. She’s late 30’s - is it fair to say she will always be like this?

SM life isn’t real life.

I know people in their 40s and 50s that still do this. And on the flipside, I know people who believe everything on SM even from influencers and expect it all to be absolutely completely and literally true, which I also think people should grow out of. Most people are somewhere in between the two extremes.
