That'd be cool even in Winter and people still want to use the outdoor area.

OP posts:
Wateringinaheatwave · 26/08/2025 14:56

Well OP, I tried to order coffee in a pub last week and they had stopped doing it… Bring back the coffee!!

NoThanksNeeded · 26/08/2025 15:03

Most pubs have a Sassy type coffee machine

Sticking that on to make the coffee whilst doing other drinks is no worse than someone ordering a Guinness which takes ages

Skybluepinky · 26/08/2025 15:11

Most do and have done for at least 30 years.

lilproblem · 26/08/2025 15:13

a lot also do takeaway coffee

YouMightThinkThat · 26/08/2025 15:16

AS reveals that OP is probably not a contender in this year's 'Great Thinkers of our Time' contest.

Yes, only the other day I heard someone order a pint of Tetley's in a pub.

Superb.

PicaK · 26/08/2025 17:26

Yabu cos they do!!

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 26/08/2025 17:28

All the pubs near me serve tea and coffee. They mostly offer evening meals and lots of people like to have a hot drink after their dinner. They serve them at other times too!

soupyspoon · 26/08/2025 17:30

Most of them do but we were on a winter walk last year and along a seafront, it was freezing and we spotted a pub, the only one along that stretch and it didnt do any hot drinks!!

Thats not the only time thats happened either, there are lots that dont sell hot drinks, I think they're crazy given that pubs are closing all the time, unfortunately they need to be everything to everyone or go bust.

BeyondMyWits · 26/08/2025 17:30

our knit and natter group meet there as we found they do tea, coffee, hot chocolate AND CAKE! Proper home-made wedges of cake!

Missey85 · 26/08/2025 17:35

In Australia most pubs do serve tea and coffee 😊

NewYorkSummer · 26/08/2025 17:36

OP quite clearly doesn’t frequent pubs very often 😂

SummerFrog25 · 26/08/2025 17:37

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 26/08/2025 13:24

Don't they? (i haven't lived in the UK for 25 years)

They do!

landlordhell · 26/08/2025 17:40

Thought they did.

BallerinaRadio · 26/08/2025 13:37

There is nothing worse than standing at the bar and the person in front of you ordering 4 cappuccinos leaving you stood there watching them do every single step and when you think they're done they then gently put the chocolate flakes on top.

Ban all coffees from pubs!

You don't think most are struggling enough to keep going without turning away this profit

Zanatdy · 26/08/2025 17:41

nearly all pubs I go to sell hot drinks. I sometimes get one in winter.

Err they do - have been ordered tea and coffee in every pub for the last 30 years

SummerFrog25 · 26/08/2025 17:41

GymBergerac · 26/08/2025 13:44

DH doesn't really drink and 9/10 times if we go in a pub he'll order a hot drink. Makes me giggle at people's faces when the enormous tatttooed tough looking guy orders a pot of earl grey tea..... 😂 😍

🤣🤣

Zempy · 26/08/2025 17:42

They do!

LittleBitofBread · 26/08/2025 17:43

Many do, but one that a group of my friends goes to regularly don't do any hot drinks at all. Tricky for me as I don't drink, I somewhat resent paying for branded mineral water, get tired of lime and soda, and I don't really go in for fizzy drinks.

I would love it if there was more of a culture in the UK like there is in other parts of Europe where bars serve everything from herbal tea to hard spirits all day and until late at night I have a particularly fond recent memory of an evening in a very beautiful and quite glam and buzzing bar in Madrid where my friend had a few glasses of nice wine and I ordered a hot chocolate, and the waiter didn't turn a hair.

KimberleyClark · 26/08/2025 14:12

Pub coffee is never as nice as coffee shop coffee though. It’s usually filter that has been standing on the hot plate for hours.

Not around here it's not! Proper machines & nicer than any of the local cafes!

Cathandkin · 26/08/2025 17:46

They all do now, and have proper coffee machines, as pp said.

Topseyt123 · 26/08/2025 17:48

All the pubs that I can think of round here do serve tea and coffee.

You might be a little behind the times, I think.

Lol I was looking for this comment! Sorry this me 😁 - not 4 though haha

My fave is at Xmas ordering a hot chocolate with a dash of baileys - until I realised it literally added a fiver to the cost 😱, so now I carry my own miniatures like an old man and sneak a bit in myself!

In Australia most pubs do serve tea and coffee 😊

’they’ also have tea and coffee in 99.9% of UK pubs too.

OP is posting from 1980. Or has never been to the UK and is getting her idea of British pubs from Charles Dickens.
