Should they sell Tea and coffee in pubs

That'd be cool even in Winter and people still want to use the outdoor area.

The only pub I've been into in the last decade or so that didn't sell teas/coffees was a "traditional" village pub that seemed to be the kind that time forgot, with most customers being older people seemingly nursing a half pint all evening. We didn't hang around for long! The "food" offerings were crap too, basically frozen pizzas!

More and more pubs are switching to the "restaurant" model, and part of that is providing tea/coffee as lots of people still want it with their meals.

When your hair is a mess, use this 1 neat trick: Buy a hairbrush and detangle it!
When you need some money, Money Editor Pippa's advice is this: Search for and apply for jobs!
When your shoes are on the wrong feet, use this amazing hack: Take them off and swap them over. Sorted!

Thanks for those tips.
Really helpful 😂😂😂😂

I can't say I've never been in a pub that doesn't serve tea and coffee, but certainly the vast majority do and have done for as long as I can remember.

You must have picked one of the odd ones that doesn't, op.

GymBergerac · 26/08/2025 13:44

DH doesn't really drink and 9/10 times if we go in a pub he'll order a hot drink. Makes me giggle at people's faces when the enormous tatttooed tough looking guy orders a pot of earl grey tea..... 😂 😍

purplecorkheart · 26/08/2025 13:46

I have only ever been to one bar that did not offer tea or coffee. That was at least 20 years ago and was in a small rural town in Ireland.

JustPassingThruHere · 26/08/2025 13:46

Weird post. Seems like you've never been to a pub.

CinnamonBuns67 · 26/08/2025 13:46

Alot do. Don't think I've been to one that doesn't.

JurassicPark4Eva · 26/08/2025 13:47

Most pubs I know also have a proper coffee machine and do tea and hot chocolate as well.

I can only think of one or two places that don't, and one is a "Hole In The Wall" type tiny pub, so no space.

Juiceinacup · 26/08/2025 13:50

I had an evening job in a pub, while I was at college, back in 1981 we served tea and coffee if asked, no fancy machines though just a kettle.

OtherS · 26/08/2025 13:57

Worked in few 'proper drinkers' pubs in late 90s / early 00s and they all served tea and coffee. And Irish coffee. In tall glasses with the milk carefully floated on the top. Didn't have machine then though, used cafetieres. Where on earth are you finding pubs that don't serve coffee?

spiderlight · 26/08/2025 13:59

They have done for absolutely years. It's not always obvious but it's what I always ask for and I've never been refused.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2025 14:00

They do and I speak from experience when I say that as soon as someone comes to the bar and orders them, your servers heart sinks.

In the time it takes to make one fucking cappucino I can serve several other customers. So yes, we do but we wish we didnt!

Elbowpatch · 26/08/2025 14:01

I agree. They should sell crisps and nuts too.

BeltaLodaLife · 26/08/2025 14:02

They mostly do.

RB68 · 26/08/2025 14:04

Most of them already do especially if they do food as well.

May not be fancy Barista style though

I wish they would have a better selection of sugar/carb free. Given the number of diabetics in the population the selection is generally poor - just about water, soda water and diet coke and its boring

BitOutOfPractice · 26/08/2025 14:06

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/08/2025 13:27

Yes, only the other day I heard someone order a pint of Tetley's in a pub.

😂

I got all excited at the thought of a pint of tea before I got the joke. I think tea by the pint could be the future!

GabriellaMontez · 26/08/2025 14:08

If they want.

KimberleyClark · 26/08/2025 14:12

Pub coffee is never as nice as coffee shop coffee though. It’s usually filter that has been standing on the hot plate for hours.

BauhausOfEliott · 26/08/2025 14:44

Why do you think most pubs don't already sell tea and coffee?! I worked in lots of pubs in the 1990s and early 2000s and we sold hot drinks in all of them, so it's been the norm for decades.

In one pub in particular, on the specific weekdays when a lot of elderly people used to do their shopping because it was pension day and/or market day, we used to shift more tea and coffee at lunchtimes than Coke or lemonade.

Aposterhasnoname · 26/08/2025 14:47

Have you ever actually been in a pub op?

randomchap · 26/08/2025 14:48

BallerinaRadio · 26/08/2025 13:37

There is nothing worse than standing at the bar and the person in front of you ordering 4 cappuccinos leaving you stood there watching them do every single step and when you think they're done they then gently put the chocolate flakes on top.

Ban all coffees from pubs!

And ban those blokes who takes ages to decide what beer to have and who ask for samples. Real ale wankers

WalkDontWalk · 26/08/2025 14:49

Elbowpatch · 26/08/2025 14:01

I agree. They should sell crisps and nuts too.

I think it would be a good idea if they had little coasters to put your drink on.

Miriabelle · 26/08/2025 14:50

Are you visiting us from 1985, OP…?

Davros · 26/08/2025 14:51

DD works in a pub in central London. They serve tea and coffee

Most decent pubs have a proper coffee machine these days.
