I'm as foul-mouthed as the next mother but I like to think that my swearing is in context and I use the really offensive stuff for emergencies. But there are people (usually under the age of 25 it seems) who use 'f*ck' as punctuation. There was one seriously lubricated young man these evening in Wetherspoons (in the garden)who was unable to speak without a liberal sprinkling of the word. I just wondered how well he'd have managed if I removed his ability to utter the word at all. I would have liked to try the experiment TBH. Or even to simpify it, remove his tongue completely

My 5yr old behaved better. And Wetherspoons does its best to discourage children

And as a confirmed (if moderate) toper, I also think that most people in the UK should be made to be teetotal, at least in public. Or you have to earn a Public Drinking license by passing certain tests - such as being able to spend an hour in a pub and only drink one or two drinks, avoid starting a fight or a screaming match, and not using the f* word.

I agree with you, but i think that teetotalism in public should be inforced on a yhree stricks rule, innocent until proven guilty and all that, i favour a tatoo on the hand as punishment for d and d, so the bar staff know not to serve you

i swear but try not to much in front of the kids and very rare i would if we where out and tbh people that are cursing all the time when im out and about i think are just plain common!

It is annoying, especially on buses with my 4 yo, remarkably she has yet to pick up the major swear words, so I assume their inane chunterings go over her head as they do mine. I have given up asking them to tame the swears, I'm sure I was just as annoying and twatty at that age.

Actually I'd like the power to make their mouths fill with soap when they utter such words. Especially the girl who attacked DS2 on his way home from school and, when he managed to get away, called him a "fcking gay c*t". In front of me. Only she didn't realise I was there. You should have seen her jump when I took her to task over her language. The sad thing is she didn't really seem to realise that she'd said anything wrong.
