Do you have date nights?

Date Nights/days! what’s the normal routine for you? Do you have them? How often? Who has the children? Are date nights just not a thing for you anymore? No right or wrong answer of course just genuinely interested :)

We have an anniversary meal out once a year! And last year he came to my work Xmas do. PIL have the kids.

PIL also have the kids during the summer holidays for at least a few days but we use that time to catch up on work and DIY!

Occasionally we both arrange to wfh and have a takeaway Thai lunch while the kids are at school.

I used to miss having date nights but I think the problem was I missed socialising in general when the kids were small and we were exhausted and felt relatively poor (in the days before proper funding for nursery).

Now I go to the leisure centre, I meet friends for walks and drinks and coffee chats, I help at the PTA - so I get plenty of social time. DH similarly has his own social life and our social circles don’t overlap.

I don’t really miss having dates - I love our family time together with the kids so much, we have lots of fun on holidays too. I think dh and I are our “best selves” when the kids are around!

Yes we do. No set days etc just as and when. We either go for lunch or dinner. Our last one was on Friday. We went to dinner, then to the opening game of the Women’s rugby World Cup. No children at home now, but when they were younger we’d arrange a babysitter and have an evening out. You may be parents but it’s important to spend time as a couple.

We have an 'out out' date night every few months - one set of GPs have one child and one set has the other. We always make time to have home date nights though - nice homecooked meal/takeaway, films and games nights with just us two.
