To think Sunday breakfast is the best?

Ekkekkkeekkkekk · 24/08/2025 09:53

DH and I make it a point of having a fancy breakfast every Sunday.

We don’t eat breakfast the other 6 days so when we get back from the gym on Sunday morning we have a feast 😁

Today we’re having eggs with Dillon keto bread. Greek yoghurt with berries and keto granola sprinkled over. DH will have coffee and I’ll have Rooibos.

Its the best day for a lavish breakfast and we won’t need to eat until dinner tonight!

I cant stomach breakfast no matter what day it is or how lavish it is.
I dont know how some do it out of bed and eating yuk.

Seriously, posts like this cause eating disorders. My daughter is seriously ill with an eating disorder and it’s because of crap like this. You don’t eat breakfast on 6 days - why did you need to mention that? Because people take some strange pride in disordered eating. Also you won’t eat until tonight because you had some yoghurt and a slice of keto bread? Unless you are really struggling with your weight or extremely inactive that’s just ridiculous.

Please can people stop thinking that showing off about starving yourselves deserves a trophy.

You could have made this post about your breakfast without all the comments about missing meals. Maybe they indicate that you have a poor relationship with food?

This 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

And OP you know full well that this is not a ‘feast’ if you were morbidly obese for years. This is just a stupid gloat that you’ve ate some healthy food. Good for you but don’t dress it up as something it isn’t.

I agree - you can't say anything in here without someone jumping down your throat!
I took it as a lighthearted op looks forward to her Sunday breakfast post but some people really do take offence at anything!

Op it sounds great, hope you enjoyed it - l had Vine tomatoes on toast followed by a choux pastry cream cake!!

Tbh, I can't imagine anyone who has a genuinely healthy relationship with food themselves being upset by a post like this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lavish breakfast? LOL. Sounds a long way from being a feast and nothing to make a fuss about.

A feast can be quality rather than quantity.

If she was morbidly obese before, it's probably a far healthier breakfast than she was eating before.

And maybe she was having a moment of self reflection and just felt good about herself.

Her biggest mistake was not recognising that women aren't allowed to feel good about themselves on MN unless a whole load of humble self flagellation thrown in for good measure.

clotheslinefiasco · 24/08/2025 12:21

@Ekkekkkeekkkekk Thanks for post as I've just ordered some of the keto bread to try, and the keto granola. I'm prediabetic, and miss this type of food as it usually spikes my blood sugar.

It will be a treat as both items are quite pricey 😀

I too felt there was something off about this post. The breakfast sounds perfectly healthy but hardly lavish. Most people would be hungry again by mid afternoon.

CrispsinaBowl · 24/08/2025 12:26

I prefer a bacon buttie with my Sunday cup of smug, but whatever

I had a potato waffle with an egg on. Might eat a satsuma now for the healthy bit.
Probably won't need to eat now till Tuesday.

RachelGreep87 · 24/08/2025 12:32

You really want everyone to know you're keto, don't you?

Thank you for writing this. My DS also had an eating disorder at 14 years old, this is the kind of thing his disorder told his brain was sensible. Even more so if he “couldn’t finish” breakfast for being too full. It’s so upsetting

Sounds bloody awful. Sunday breakfast for us is a full Scottish.

Canny whack a tattie scone dipped into a runny egg

Lurkingandlearning · 24/08/2025 13:29

@Ekkekkkeekkkekk thank for starting a light hearted thread about Sunday breakfast. I clicked on it with happy anticipation. It’s a shame it’s been hijacked by so many posters who get angry that everyone isn’t exactly the same as them. They’re to be pitied really. Life must be a constant disappointing surprise for them.

AIBU has a reputation for this kind of nonsense. Sad people who have nothing better to do than try to make everyone else as miserable as they are. But it does get the most traffic. Try “chat” next time. Posters there seem less inclined to think everyone on social media should consider each and every issue that exists in the world should be considered before posting.

I hope you enjoyed your breakfast

Sorry about your daughter - I hope she can get better and recover

This thread is a bit of a ride!
Only one of my dcs has breakfast every day. The rest of us don’t so we really enjoy our weekend breakfasts too. I also love breakfasts even more if I’ve been active.
The best breakfast I had was when we packed filled bagels, fruit, juice and coffee went off on a bike ride and stopped off for picnic breakfast.

ChewbaccasMrs · 24/08/2025 14:22

I was surprised with mcdonald's breakfast in bed, double sausage and egg muffin,2 hash browns, bbq sauce and a flat white and it was lovely, not having lunch because I'm still full but I will have dinner later.

I love our Sunday breakfast! It's at the other end of the health spectrum. DD is home from uni', and made us breakfast in bed - waffles with whipped cream, blueberries and maple syrup. Yum. . . I was ever so good, I only had one. . .

Ah that’s lovely your daughter made you breakfast in bed!

Waffles, fruit and cream - Now that’s a breakfast I’d get on board for

missrabbit1990 · 24/08/2025 14:26

You sound like you have an eating disorder.

paddyclampster · 24/08/2025 14:26

Anyone who wanks on about any part of Sunday needs their bumps feeling in my opinion!!!

But this one definitely takes the cake!

gingercat02 · 24/08/2025 14:49

We have been away so full hotel Scottish breakfast. Scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, haggis, black pudding, mushrooms hash browns, tattie scone and toast. 2 mugs of coffee.
Just had a Costa toastie and flavoured water.
Fajitas for tea (and wine cos it's a bank holiday)
That's a Sunday OP not keto bollocks.

@FedUpToTheBackTooth

Wow. I am really sorry for your daughter's struggles. I have been in treatment for ED before so I need to say that I think that you are really projecting your frustration at your situation onto a random stranger.

There was no glorification of skipping meals or suggestions that starving oneself is a good idea.

I am really sorry for your daughter's situation but as a sufferer myself, I can assure you that posts like this are not the cause of her illness.

I am sorry for what you and your family are going through. I hope your daughter is well soon.

It might be best if you scroll past food-related posts in the future; for your own well being. This was very lighthearted and your reaction is extreme. I am truly sorry for what you are going through.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 24/08/2025 15:18

Someone saying they don’t usually eat breakfast does not cause someone else to have an eating disorder. The amount of projection on this thread is insane.

Fasting until lunchtime is perfectly normal for lots of people and has been since the dawn of time. It doesn’t even need to be called fasting.
