To think Sunday breakfast is the best?

Ekkekkkeekkkekk · 24/08/2025 09:53

DH and I make it a point of having a fancy breakfast every Sunday.

We don’t eat breakfast the other 6 days so when we get back from the gym on Sunday morning we have a feast 😁

Today we’re having eggs with Dillon keto bread. Greek yoghurt with berries and keto granola sprinkled over. DH will have coffee and I’ll have Rooibos.

Its the best day for a lavish breakfast and we won’t need to eat until dinner tonight!

I will take this post in the spirit it was intended OP . Lazy sunday mornings with no rushing about, chilled and relaxed with a nice breakfast chatting over the papers etc is indeed a lovely way to end the week spending time with our loved ones with not a rush in sight..mine would follow with late sunday lunch in the pub landing back home about 5ish, getting the kids bags ready for school, baths and jamas then vegging out being extra lazy on the sofa and maybe crumpets and coffee, crap tv and bed!

dementedpixie · 24/08/2025 11:16

We had a roll with square sausage, fried egg and potato scone. And 2 cups of tea/coffee

Lavish?

I manage to eat granola with yoghurt & berries most days & still need lunch & dinner...

Ekkekkkeekkkekk · 24/08/2025 11:17

Whoa so much projection!

What you don’t know is that I was morbidly obese for years and THIS is the only way I stay at my ideal weight.

We are all different so you do you!

DuncanMeBiscuit · 24/08/2025 11:19

Blimey OP

Who would've thought a post about a couple of eggs could be so controversial? 🤣

It's perfectly normal for many people to not eat breakfast, or to not eat lunch and go straight from breakfast to their evening meal!

And for many others it's not perfectly normal.

Each to their own. No need to start being shitty with the OP about it 🤷‍♂️

hangerup · 24/08/2025 11:20

What you don’t know is that I was morbidly obese for years and THIS is the only way I stay at my ideal weight.

It was obvious that something was odd with your relationship to food. No need to inflict it on others 🤷🏻‍♀️

BourgeoisBabe · 24/08/2025 11:20

I was with you until you mentioned not eating again till dinner!

hangerup · 24/08/2025 11:21

It's not normal to describe basic breakfast items as lavish or a feast...

Livingthebestlife · 24/08/2025 11:22

My family had full Irish, I had rashers, mushrooms, dippy fried eggs, hash browns loads of buttered Brennan's bread . I'll definitely eat before dinner😂

Oh so what, if they're lavish to the OP.

You have no idea of her weekly food budget so maybe to her they are lavish once a week.

Still no need for so many dickish posts on this thread.

WhySoManySocks · 24/08/2025 11:25

People bragging how little they eat is so fucking tedious. My DM does it all the time, so does FIL. We’re invited to enjoy their disordered eating with a side dish of smugness. Bore off…

BauhausOfEliott · 24/08/2025 11:26

You think ‘keto’ bread and yogurt one day a week is some sort of indulgent feast? So much so that you had to post on a forum to share the news with strangers?

I agree with other posters that this is the behaviour of someone with certain issues around food.

DeirdreChambersWhatACoincidence · 24/08/2025 11:27

I had lentil and tomato soup and a mocha. I shall have lunch and dinner too. Yes I know soup isn't traditional breakfast food but it is very nice soup.

My idea of a lavish breakfast would be your full English with bubble, black pudding and two toast.

Yes, it is very obvious that you are rigidly controlling your weight. We can all tell that from your original post. That’s not the issue. The issue is that you created a post to seek validation and praise for that.

See, this is the essential bit of info missing from the OP. I read your OP and thought, great, sounds like a fairly nice breakfast but I’d certainly want lunch later too. I’m fairly active and don’t have a history of morbid obesity, and having this for breakfast wouldn’t mean skipping other meals.

Like others, I wondered from the OP if there was some history of disordered eating or other health issues. Helpful that you’ve clarified there is.

Seriously, posts like this cause eating disorders. My daughter is seriously ill with an eating disorder and it’s because of crap like this. You don’t eat breakfast on 6 days - why did you need to mention that? Because people take some strange pride in disordered eating. Also you won’t eat until tonight because you had some yoghurt and a slice of keto bread? Unless you are really struggling with your weight or extremely inactive that’s just ridiculous.

Please can people stop thinking that showing off about starving yourselves deserves a trophy.

You could have made this post about your breakfast without all the comments about missing meals. Maybe they indicate that you have a poor relationship with food?

👏👏👏

Mate, everybody knew you had a food problem.

We just don’t want to read the glorification of it.

GreyCarpet · 24/08/2025 11:44

OP, Sunday breakfast for me is usually coffee with double cream, smoked salmon and cream cheese or scrambled eggs and Greek yoghurt with blueberries and raspberries.

I generally don't eat again until I get hungry, which will be around 5pm.

I don't eat breakfast the rest of the week either.

It's not about the food itself being 'fancy' but having the time to actually focus on it feels like a treat sometimes.

I'm a perfectly normal and healthy weight and I don't have food issues. I eat what I want when I'm hungry.

The OP is clearly proud of her achievement (and, yes, going from morbidly obese to a healthy weight is an achievement) and of she's feeling all warm and fuzzy about that today, fair enough!

Maybe it's the people who feel the need to tear her down who have the issues with food to have such a strong reaction to someone feeling accomplished today.

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 24/08/2025 11:47

God that breakfast sounds depressing but each to their own.

We had pieces on sausage - square sausage and mothers pride plain loaf. Absolutely stunning.

OnePinkDeer · 24/08/2025 11:48

Cabinqueen · 24/08/2025 10:08

On a weekend it's wholemeal bread, bacon and brie with cranberries and for me, bacon and brie with chilli jam for husband also with proper coffee and orange juice....🤤😋 Sets us up for the rest of the day. Often working on weekends so today is a real treat.

Im doing that next time 😋

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 24/08/2025 11:49

That doesn't sound like a fancy breakfast so much as a stealth boast.

Bacon, eggs, toast now that's a weekend breakfast, not 'keto granola'

Whoa! I'm like the OP I don't eat breakfast other than possibly the weekend as I'm not hungry so tend to brunch around 11am
I think you're unfairly projecting.

Weekends I love a fresh cooked pastry and proper coffee as well as maybe eggs and avo or bacon sandwich. However it still isn't breakfast time, about 10 ish.

The poster who put they like smoked salmon and cream cheese...that's my partners go to.

Nb..coincidence I started post with whoa as I hadn't seen the OP reply ..but obvs we feel the same!

1156...been out walking dog for an hour and still not hungry so looks like a brunch but I wont eat again until this evening either.

I took it as a lighthearted op looks forward to her Sunday breakfast post but some people really do take offence at anything!

Op it sounds great, hope you enjoyed it - l had Vine tomatoes on toast followed by a choux pastry cream cake!!
