Has catsitter bailed or am I being neurotic?

I'm 300 miles away from home visiting my DF who has just een diagnosed with cancer so quite a stressful time.

I have a little cat who needs medication twice a day so I have a catsitter come to stay if I'm away for more than a night - makes me feel a little better about being burgled and keeps my needy little guy happy.

I have a great sitter I found through Cat In A Flat who sadly wasn't available this weekend so found another with good reviews. Met her on Monday and she seemed lovely, gave her a key and left for my trip at 6am today.

Messaged to tell her I had left and everything was ready for her. She's read it at 9.20am this morning, not replied, and my ring doorbell tells me she's not there yet.

AIBU if I message again or am I just overthinking cat logistics?

Should she have been there to give your cat medication this morning?

If yes, I’d phone her.

So you just left her with free reign to just come and go as she saw fit? Does your cat not need their medication at a certain time of the day?

I would have laid out expectations for when they needed to be there and for how long. Possibly would have casually dropped out that I have a ring doorbell too.

But yes, I would call I think and just check all is okay.

I gave him food and meds before I left but was at the crack of dawn. Also I messaged her through the app last night and she didn't reply.

Just at an appointment with my dad but I think I will call her when we're out. Eurgh. I really hope she's not done a runner.

Depends, did you give the meds before you left this morning?

When did you actually expect her to start visiting? I assume you agreed it with her.

AntiHop · 23/08/2025 15:46

If your ring doorbell says she hasn't been, definitely call her.

Yep you pay in advance through Cat in a Flat. Used them for years with no problems (til now).

She obviously hasn't been if you haven't seen her on your ring door bell so yes of course you should call her. Surely by now your cat should have had one lot of medication? The fact she's read the message and not responded would really frustrate me.

Sorry to hear about your dad, do you have anyone else who could pop over to give the medication?
