Nothing gets done about low performing staff

My friend was stating she’s got a new team leader and she’s not very good. Both are new to the post. The job wasn’t advertised internally so I don’t know if there was any interview process. Team has restructured with new positions, no one has lost their job.

The new team leader has been at the company for many years and prob passed probation at new job. Manager who employed her has since left.

Does anything ever get done?

I’d say depends on the industry and role, perhaps.

I think there’s also a huge spectrum from ‘not good’ (meaning ok, passable) and
‘actively bad’ (harmful)… and if people are not disruptive then there’s no incentive for management to change it up.

A lot of incompetent people spend a lot of their time agreeing with and a* licking the management above them. Those people cannot see the incompetence as they are being indulged in their own vanity.

There are very few managers who can see the wood from the trees these days and have the courage to make tough decisions. I can’t blame them either as the victimhood culture is so hard too fight.
