In his short life he gave so much... by his young death what have we missed out on?

AIBU = Avici is shit
YANBU = Avici was a master of his time

I don’t know anything much about him as a person but his music - yes great and his death a sad loss in music terms as well as of course in human terms.
Wake me up is in my top 5 songs

His music was FABULOUS 🙌

Cinaferna · 23/08/2025 09:12

I love his music, His was one of the few celebrity deaths that really upset me. I was so shocked that someone young and successful, who made so many people happy, was so deeply unhappy himself, and unable to get support and help when he needed it.

He was great! I was fortunate to see him live several times at Creamfields and he was AMAZING every time - he always pulled a huge crowd and put on a great show and everyone danced the whole way through.
Such a shame he went so early 🥺

pinkdelight · 23/08/2025 09:29

I don’t like his music but no one could say he was shit, that’d be awful. I saw some of the documentary and his story was very sad, yet another indictment of an industry that commodifies creative people and doesn’t care.

Pearl69 · 23/08/2025 09:35

Watching his documentary at the time, it was clear he was struggling. Constant badgering by his “team” , overwhelming schedule, no down time. He was just put back on stage over and over. He was a kind soul and those around him should be accountable for his death. Just exploited until he had nothing left. Not my music really but it touched me as I have boys the same age.

Yanbu op. Really love his stuff. Silhouettes Is one of my favourite songs of all time. Very sad hearing it now.

MyAcornWood · 23/08/2025 10:13

His music was superb, hit after hit after hit. No misses iirc. He was at his peak musically when I was at my peak of partying and his music will always be synonymous with that wild, happy time of my life. The wave of nostalgia when I hear hey brother or the nights is unparalleled. As pp says, avicii at creamfields was a class of his own.

Justanotherdramalama · 23/08/2025 10:27

Levels is my favourite song and hey brother is just magic. Watched the documentary when it came out and it was so sad to watch. Very jealous of those who seen him live.

I still listen to Levels regularly but no matter how many times I hear it I still get chills and waves of nostalgia. Gutted I never saw him live. His music was incredible and he seemed like a genuinely nice person from the documentary. So sad.
