Why so many spiders?!! 😭

Anyone else finding that this is the worst year EVER for monstrous spiders?!! I’ve sprayed peppermint everywhere - it worked last year, didn’t see a single one but this year it’s having no effect. I’m not going to make it to September 😭😭😭

Sending you solidarity. Sorry I have no practical advice. I am getting much better at killing them than I was when I was younger. Hopefully time will make things easier for you too. People on here have said good things about the Ldn Zoo course.

I’ve noticed loads more webs everywhere this year. I’m constantly walking into them. I don’t usually mind spiders but it’s been weird. Like getting up in the morning and the bedroom doors have webs covering them.

I've just bought a long spider catcher from Amazon. I have tried it on the small ones but I'm not sure I'm going to have the nerve with the big fuckers.

I'm in Central Scotland and don't normally see a single spider until mid September but this past week have had several in the house.

@boccaallupo as a fellow arachnophobe you have my sympathies as it does seem like spider season has arrived early this year. It’s mainly females looking to mate I think? Anyway, my Spider killer spray doesn’t care which sex they are... And does the business. I’d highly recommend if you can’t face getting near them to remove humanely. I do leave the cellar spiders in situ though because they do deal with the big fuckers (allegedly).

DH said this yesterday. He keeps wandering around the house armed with the dyson to suck the fuckers up.
I think it's because when he got out of bed on Monday, there was one scuttling across the sheets.

I have loads too, not just little ones either, huge big monster spiders! I had to wake DH at 2am to get one out the bath in the middle of the night so I could pee. He got up around 5am for work and found another one! I am going to try the peppermint trick despite you saying it hasn't worked through sheer desperation.
