more than enough

i know it’s dependent on outgoings but but as a general income.

Not a lot less…cb is the only benefit we get…

‘Taking money from tax payers’ …. Do you use the nhs, drive on roads etc? Surely we all take from the tax payer directly or indirectly in some way. I’m assuming OP is a contributor!

AgnesX · 21/08/2025 13:00

You're not going to be destitute by payday then.

Depending on your mortgage, pension and hobbies try and save some.

hangerup · 21/08/2025 13:02

@Cyantist I thought it was before pension deductions & the threshold only moved this year...

alldark · 21/08/2025 13:04

Its a huge income.

You must realise you are way over average.

Why are you asking?

Wordsmithery · 21/08/2025 13:05

lotsofpatience · 21/08/2025 11:26

Just over breadline

You've evidently never been near the breadline

Catsandcannedbeans · 21/08/2025 13:08

We make around that, 2 kids (soon 3), I don’t really work and we live well. We’ve never been flashy, apart from my pink car, that’s genuinely our biggest spend - but I deserve her after all the childbirth 🤣. I think we’re doing great! But our baseline for our childhood is poverty. In our area, lots if people earn way more, but when I showed my kids the house we grew up in they were genuinely horrified when I told them we shared rooms and six kids lived in a 3 bed.

No - it's definitely 60k after pension deductions.
We both got rises around the time the changes took place. It changed in April 2024 and we both started new jobs around that time (and they paid a bit less at that time we started them). Prior to that DH earned around 55k. So he still had to do a tax return every year but still didn't have to repay anything as his income was below the 50k threshold after pension contributions

Of course 7596 after tax and pension in the UK is a good income. The majority of households aren’t taking this home.

Mumsnet baffles me it really does.

dagoo · 21/08/2025 13:11

I don't know what you want from this post OP. It is a lot of money by most people's standards.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 21/08/2025 13:11

More than enough

HesarealJacquelineHigh · 21/08/2025 13:13

Blondiebeachbabe · 21/08/2025 12:20

Seems good to me. I think your mortgage is huge though. We bring in about £6500 per month, but our mortgage is only £235.

Surely you must know that your mortgage is extremely low compared to most?

Wordsmithery · 21/08/2025 13:15

Crazy post. Average UK salary around £31k. Of course you're doing well, as if you needed to ask.

Hoppinggreen · 21/08/2025 13:17

Depends
For some its a fortune but for others its not enough

randomchap · 21/08/2025 13:22

Little boastful perhaps

WileyCyrus · 21/08/2025 13:25

MegaMinion34 · 21/08/2025 11:29

It's close to 100k a year so yes, pretty good. On MN though it's probably just above poverty line 😉

Glad you said this…I was reading all of the “it’s not bad” comments and thinking….whaaaaat?!

DiaryofaProvincialLady · 21/08/2025 13:25

I spend that a week on coffees, sorry OP, could you take in some ironing for pin money? Sell Avon? 😐

BlackeyedSusan · 21/08/2025 13:29

Fucking loads. Absolutely fucking loads.

RonnIeAl77 · 21/08/2025 13:30

hangerup · 21/08/2025 12:25

@RonnIeAl77 do you get child benefit?

No, I stopped getting it when my own salary exceeded 50k. So no idea how OP gets it. Our incomes now are 65k and 60k.

MovingBird123 · 21/08/2025 13:31

That sounds absolutely lovely! Enjoy!

Sdpbody · 21/08/2025 13:33

RonnIeAl77 · 21/08/2025 13:30

No, I stopped getting it when my own salary exceeded 50k. So no idea how OP gets it. Our incomes now are 65k and 60k.

Then you absolutely can get CB. Whoever earns £65k, you can add £5k to your pension and not pay back any CB. You will have an extra £2k a year.

looselegs · 21/08/2025 13:34

I'm thinking I'd like that income very much....

usedtobeaylis · 21/08/2025 13:35

More than enough. How good your income is doesn't depend on how good it shit you are with your money. That is objectively more than enough.

OCDmama · 21/08/2025 13:37

We get £7400 per month.
Our mortgage is 2200, childcare is 750, and we don't get child benefit. 2 kids, 3rd on the way. We're very secure financially, looking at making extra payments on mortgage to reduce the term.

I'd be putting more in pension or throwing it at your mortgage, if you've resecured savings after refurb.

limescale · 21/08/2025 13:41

Fineapple1 · 21/08/2025 12:54

Not trolling, I did nc yes because I’d rather it not linked to other posts. Sorry

Why though? Why are you asking? Now that most people have told you what you must already know (unless you are astoundingly dim), what will you do with that information?

skippy67 · 21/08/2025 13:44

Littlemrsconfetti · 21/08/2025 11:40

Ok? It's a very high income! This isn't average.

And the OP knows that...
