According to the comments I've seen from Tommy Robinson's supporters, this isn't racism - he's just doing his best to protect white children and raise awareness! The article mentions he still hasn't deleted the video, despite the threats and abuse the family are facing. What will it actually take for his blind followers to wake up and smell the coffee?

The poster I was replying to didn't have the full facts as the article doesn't mention their ages. Regarding the film, it's difficult to tell how old the other man is in any case.

I think it's daft to refer to a 34 year old as grandfather in the article. That doesn't mean the film warrants a comment from Tommy Robinson.

Robinson took the video, clearly labelled as being a grandfather playing with his grandkids, and reposted it without the tag, implying something untoward was going on, when he knew otherwise. E.g. he very likely intentionally lied, for the sake of being a racist twat, in a way that has severely negatively impacted his victim.

He then left it up for several days, ignoring repeated messages confirming the family relationship, eventually taking it down after the press reported on it.

E.g. even if he was stupid enough not to realize he originally posted something harmful and dishonest, he persisted in allowing it to be spread for a significant period of time despite many messages confirming the clip was of family members playing together.

JHounds' post, on the other hand, was simply a matter of hours out-of-date, but their general point of "Even if it wasnt an accident, why leave it up for so long" still stands.

Clav , the whole point is the video freeze frame is shown and says the man is their grandfather, more than once. Robinson saw this -and then removed it.

It matters not one jot whether you personally in your high tower think is is silly to call this man the girls' grandfather. that's what this family choose to do. What do you want him to be called. The press are reporting this in the terms the family use. The young girls won't be thinking ' gosh. this lovely man is too young to be my grandpa'

My children have just lost their grandpa. They called him that for most of their lives after he married MIL. The gap isn't as big as this but he was too young to be my DH's father and at the younger end of possibility to be their grandfather. He was adored. They called him grandpa. He meant more to them than their biological , older grandfather.

If your point isn't that you can see how someone misread his intentions in being in a park with young girls, why are you making such a fuss over labels?? It's like those MN threads where people tortuously call people 'DH's nephew' or something and insist blood relatives mean more. That implication is indeed used by people to suggest 'blood is thicker than water' and could imply the man is not genuine. Are you just doing that thing of thinking 'no one has spotted his age so I must point it out?'. I spotted it, thought not much of it and moved on. An age gap with genders reversed would barely raise comment. It's tedious and it is distracting form the topic.

Its a clip taken I presume by the grandmother and quite far aways so you can't remotely guess the man's age.

I have no idea how TR got his hands on it but what he did to it is sinister. I bet he assumed the man was of Somalian heritage . This to Tommy and his gang would be enough to be able to suggest he was harming women and girls.

I don't disagree with you on Farage there but I don't understand the media's role in this case? TR operates separately from Farage and has, in fact, been around far longer than Farage doing what he does. He's just been aided and abetted by social medias so no longer has to leaflet or hang around outside LTFC.

I would be very wary of leaving little girls of this age alone with any step grandfatber or uncle whatever their colour.
